>dreamcast can run ps1 games at 480p all the way back in 2000
>sony's official emulator on ps2 can only play about 5 games
>homebrew devs have said ps2 is too weak to emulate ps1 games at full speed
>ps2 slim can't even play mgs1 properly
So it looks like Dreamcast is more powerful than ps2
>>
Bleem was highly configured for individual games.

>sony's official emulator on ps2 can only play about 5 games
POPS is pretty good.
>>
>>12647670
>Don't blame us for anything that happens if you try using it with other games
If wonder if anyone has found other games that work with these discs.
>>
>>12647720
Yeah with hacked versions of the emulator you can play other games. The compatibility is really crap though.

>>
>>12647727
But which disc did they use for that? Obviously each one would be different because they would be tailored to work with it's advertised game.
>>

>dreamcast can run 3 (THREE) ps1 games at 480p all the way back in 2000
FTFY
>>
>>12647670
I remember the PS2 has the same original PS1 CPU to process inputs (controllers, memory cards, etc.) built in. Did something change? Does the input processes interfere with the handling of running PS1 game code? I remember the biggest selling point of the PS2 was the backwards compatibility. Did the timeline change again?
>>
>>12647845
You are correct. I have no idea what OP is referring to.
>>
>>12647851
I think he's talking about popstarter.

>sony's official emulator on ps2 can only play about 5 games
???? PS2 played all PS1 games via hardware. It was one of its major selling points next to DVD and 75 million polygons per second.

Why do they use psx and not call the dreamcast the sega katana?
>>
>>12647670
I will never comprehend how anyone thought Vaseline smears looked better. What a waste of 480p. PS1 graphics look incredible at high resolution without texture filtering, but everyone seems to have a fetish for blur filters.
>>
>>12647845
>>12647670
Why is it two discs? What's the second disc for?
>>
>>12647859
ps2's backward compatibility is complicated, and only partially hardware-based. the psx cpu on most ps2 models is included, but very late models dropped it in favour of emulation. the rest of the psx in all ps2 models is emulated.
https://obsoletesony.substack.com/p/ps2-backward-compatibility
"can only play 5 games" is nonsense though
most games work fine on most ps2 models, here's a list of exceptions;

>>
Why was ps2 so freakin weak
>>
>>12648136
it wasn't

But but but anon! No jaggies! High tech to make the jaggies go away! It's the future!

Some people are just allergic to visible pixels. The same reason why Le No Chicken kept texture filtering on by default in GZDoom.
>>
>>12647670
But I thought right was already how it looked on CRTs??? What's the benefit?
>>
>>12647670
Yes. Which proves that Dreamcast is a 6th gen console. Not the 5.5 gen the Sony shills want you to beLIEve.
>>
>>12647923
I don't understand how you think the right screenshot looks vaseline smeared.

Is this more troon revisionism? The only thing PS1 playback lacked on the Ps2 was the dither filter which made Silent Hill and Tomb Raider fucking ugly on PS2, can still output 240p tough wouldn't been nice if the main PS2 games allowed it to eliminate the ugly flicker.

i don't . i played PSX and famicoms with RF cables back in the day.
i like bilinear on modern LED monitors. not the same.
>>
>>12649987
bleem died but saved emulation in the process. they weren't able to survive the litigation they were hit with, but they did win. that's what i hate the most about legal systems, you can be right, you can win in the end, but the time and money it sucks out of you can do you in anyway

Many such cases...
