Favorite Master System games? I'm pretty unfamiliar with this console
>>

R-Type is based, the Sonic games are arguably better than their Genesis counterparts, Dragon Crystal is cool too.

Despite knowing nothing about wrestling as a kid, and not enjoying it at all as an adult, the Pro Wrestling game is absolutely fantastic. Tremendous fun. Also one of the most unhinged boxarts ever.
>>
Daffy Duck in Hollywood is a surprisingly fun romp (and much better than it's Mega Drive counterpart). Trying to get the good ending is a bitch and a half though.
>>
Asterix is fantastic, SMS Smurfs is my favourite version of that game too.

Sega'a Disney games are also worth checking out

Golden Axe Warrior. It's like a more refined Zelda 1. You don't even need a guide to beat it.

Phantasy Star is my favorite but I feel like that's a given.
Paperboy on SMS is pretty solid.

Oh I forgot Outrun as well. It has FM sound support too. See also: Hang-On.

Rescue Mission is insanely good. Also try Aladdin (read the manual) and The Psychic World.
>>
Space Harrier with the funky 3D glasses was pretty badass in 1991. I think it would just annoy the shit out of me now though.
>>

I got a SMS with the 3D glasses, and they seem to work fine, but I don't have a CRT. I guess it's not really worth experiencing properly, huh.

Aztec adventure. Rented it as a kid

One of the best 8-bit platformers ever made. I kind of like this one more than Castle of Illusion on the Genesis.

Maybe if you have severe brain damage.

Anon is right. Master System version, despite hardware limitations, is an overall better game to play.
>>
The more I think about it, the more I prefer the Game Gear library over the Master System library. The Master System library does overlap with the Game Gear, as they share similar hardware and games. I prefer the higher colour pallet look of the Game Gear, plus it has a bunch of additional games that didn't show up on the Master System. the SMS is a neat console, and it does have a nice selection of games. But lacked the third party support of the NES. Game Gear was never as popular as the Game Boy, it did have more support from third parties.

Many GG games play better on the Master System. Other GG games were ported to different systems. The rest largely suck ass.

Master System has many more worthwhile exclusives and better ports

Lol. No.

I have beaten 36 SMS games, my favourites so far

Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Batman Returns
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
Ninja Gaiden
Phantasy Star
Power Strike II
Sonic The Hedgehog
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
The Lucky Dime Caper Starring Donald Duck
Wonder Boy III - The Dragon's Trap

I'd like to see more games that aren't action sidescrollers but alas...

Aladdin is pretty different from every other version. There are chase stages and also a stage where you just fly on the carpet.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Alex Kidd in Shinobi World are very good. The other Alex Kidd games suck.

Asterix (no subtitle) is very good, and one of the first games I remember having a "cinematic" final level.

Black Belt/Hokuto no Ken is a very interesting beat-em-up. Normal stages are sidescrollers, while stage bosses turn into a fighting game of sorts.

Cloud Master is good but infuriating.

Comical Machine Gun Joe is good but very short.

Golvellius is good but weird.

Kenseiden is samurai Castlevania.

The Lucky Dime Caper is very good.

Ninja Gaiden is its own version, very different from NES/Arcade versions.
>>
>>12649454
The Fantasy Zone games are one of the very few SHMUPs I ever enjoyed playing.
>>
>>12651505
>Kenseiden is samurai Castlevania.

Kenseiden kinda filtered me

webm unrelated

More refined with much worse combat...
