>"Oh this game looks neat"
>Studio that made it is gone
>Studio it was merged into is also gone
>Its parent company is also gone
>Independent smaller companies founded by the last remnants of the development team are all gone too
>All of this over a decade ago
Too damn often.

I fail to see the problem.

Sad to see the past fade away even if it is safer option than surviving to the present day.

For what its worth, even if they weren't gone they'd be the Ship of Theseus by now. Nothing is meant to last forever and its much better to bow out once you did what you came to do than to be strung along until you're a poor imitation, or worse, and antithesis to what you once were.

Stop being a sad faggot, or at least stop making threads about it

The more games I play the more I'm convinced "good games" involve the stars aligning for a brief period of time and it's impossible to maintain that momentum long term. There's some exceptions, sure, but in general it seems you've got 6~ years of killing it and then it all falls apart rapidly.

The worst is when you look up the devs and where they are now and they've either left the industry or just disappeared off the face of the earth down some EA or Activision support studio mine with tens of thousands of others.

so that means if you were to port, remake it or make fangames based on it, nobody is going to get on your ass and demand you immediately delete years of your work.

That's a matter of not telling anyone what you're doing until you're ready to release it.
There's also the rare chance of receiving blessings from the original devs themselves.

>play good game
>check company who made it
>merged
>...with a modern big corpo brand that enshittifies the series
The company dying is a better fate than this.

>Ship of Theseus
Painfully more relevant every year since a good game came out. Some companies and teams lost talent and credibility in record time over the years.

>play a good game
>check if the studio still exists
>10 year gaps between their later games but it's still alive
>check the latest game
>it's mobile
>it's not even related to their older games
Too many times.

>>12651908
just look at what happened to the franchises and studios that are still around

Why is it so rare for a dev studio to stick to its values and not bend to the satanic march of change?
