What was your reaction to Ocarina of Time like?
>>
>>12653302
my cousin had it for the cube and i didin't think much of it at the time because he got stuck after becoming adult Link. Then i played Twilight princess and i really like it so i got the N64 cartridge of OOT and i really enjoyed it too

I wasn't alive yet.

Cool game, fully living up to the hype. I remember regularly playing hooky and going to a mall that had it on a promo N64 kiosk.
>>
I remember a buddy got this back in the day, I wasn't impressed, being a PC gamer. It seemed like a joke actually.

>reaction of a 9 years old
As if I gave a damn what little jimmy was thinking after wiping his runny nose on his shirt while playing this games
>>
>>12653302
I'm a zoom zoom so I didn't get the chance to see it be unveiled in real time, but I played it for the first time forever ago and it had me hooked for days straight, no game pulled me in like this one did. It really is one of the best, Nintendo outdid themselves.
>>
>>12653341
Yeah, dude. OoT wasn't impressive when we had DOOM and MYST
>>
>>12653302
It was universally recognized as the best game ever made by adults and kids alike
>>12653341
>>12653346
Zoomerfag that wasn't even there award
>>
>>12653354
By 1998, PCs blew the poor N64 out of the water and the games were much better and deeper than DOOM and Myst and OOT. Typical tendiecope.

>It was universally recognized as the best game ever made by adults and kids alike
Tendies have brain damage lol.
>>
This game did a really good job of incentivizing exploration because it really felt like items that you need to obtain in order to progress could be literally anywhere on the map. Every npc you talk to could start you on a side quest that would result in something worthwhile. Having never played any zelda before I got stuck several times my first playthrough although I can see how if you had played lttp prior to oot it would feel like the same game but 3d.
>>
It was a seminal moment of any person who claims to like video games
>>
>>12653359
You weren't alive in 1998
>>
I didn’t have an n64 until near the end of its life span. I got it because I felt obligated but preferred the wrestling games an re2. Honestly don’t care for Zelda outside of the Wii games.

Tendie-comment. N64 just wasn't that great, that's why it had like 1/20th the games as the competition. Tendies would buy it of course, worship it.

Best game on the Tendie 64 was Goldeneye.

It's a very comfy game despite most of it taking place in the dark.

All the kids in the block were in fact playing Mario, Pokemon and Zelda on the N64. The adults you are referring to are merely paid reviewers.
Everyone else was playing Tomb Raider, Doom, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy.
>>
>>12653302
Didn't much care for it. Never finished it. Have still never finished it. Playing it after FF7 was rough.
>>
"Wow cool wind waker comes with this extra zelda game I've never seen before"
>>
>>12653302
>"Eh, okay." (continues playing ALttP)

>Doom
>A game that looks incredibly dated and can run on a fucking snes or any other 4th gen console
>Myst, a game with no fucking gameplay
Are these posts supposed to be ironic?
>>
>>12653302
iirc i played it after wind waker and liked wind waker better. but liked MM the most of the three
>>
>>12653302
i don't really remember. "cool game" probably.
>>
>>12653302
Family member bought it for me. They were at the right age to know what was good and I was just a kid who would play pokemon. It was incredible and I'm still happy it got gifted to me.
>>
>>12653302
A lot of people here are brown zoomers so they weren't there to know how amazing it was. They probably played wind waker first.
>>
>>12653575
>t. brown
>>
>>12653302
Wow, this is great. I'm having fun.
>>
>>12653302
I can't say I knew about it before it came out, but it took at least a decade for me to find a better game. Mostly just because I got tired of playing through it so much like everyone else. I can't think of any game from the same era with a map this big, this many weapons and mechanics, and a story this great

Didn't get to play it at release. Family was poor and we could only get one console that generation, so we got a playstation. Eventually got to play it when next generation came by and my one console was the zelda bundle gamecube. I remember playing it just cause I didn't have many games and was playing what I could until I could save up for my next game. It was fun, but nothing I want to go back and replay. It did inspire me to play all the Zelda games I missed up to that point though

I got it for Christmas 1998 at twelve years old. Perfect time to play it.
