>not playing it in coop mode with your friendYou haven't beat the game
best non-violent retro games with coop/assist mode?
>>12654635Zero Tolerance has such a brilliant engine and core gameplay loop, that with a proper budget and direction it would've been considered one of the best 16-bit games. Like how Nintendo funded and directed Star Fox for Argonaut
>>12654654It feels almost like a Tom Hall game. I always found a lot of the non-standard tricks the engine does to be cool. Like the semi-destructible walls that show damage, the enemies that crawl on the walls and cieling and the bit at the start of the second level where there are enemies INSIDE THE SKYBOX shooting at you from other buildings, and the fact that you can shoot a rocket launcher INTO THE SKYBOX to blow them up.
>>12654635post you and your friends hand together then
>>12654662For me it's the alarm on the second level and human soldiers mutating into aliens right in front of your eyes. And hand grenades. So much stuff ahead of its time.
>>12654674I went through a low-res FPS phase where I was trying to play all the FPS games on Genesis and GBA. Not including the ports because I didn't play them, Zero Tolerance is by far the best original shooter on either platform. Its considerably better than several games that initially seem like they have better graphics like Ecks vs. Sever on GBA or Bloodshot on Genesis.I hope someone decomps/hacks it one day to get it running good enough that the viewport can be widened to something like Bloodshot, the tiny viewport is the only real downside the game has.
>>12654662Speaking of Tom Hall, it's still weird to me that he has basically missed the Build engine era of 3D Realms. Especially with the engine being available to Duke 3D developers as early as 1994.
>>12654678>BloodshotThose glitchy textures, I can't believe they passed QC.>I hope someone decomps/hacks it one day to get it running good enough that the viewport can be widened to something like Bloodshot, the tiny viewport is the only real downside the game has.For a bigger viewport ingame walls and ceilings should also be made higher, otherwise it will look weird in large rooms (picrel)
>snipe at far away enemies when they're literally a single pixel and they can't spot you yet, the game*yawn*
>>12654712At which level does this happen?
>>12654716At least half of them
>>12654635A LAN multiplayer co-op FPS on the Genesis is technically impressive, but sadly the actual game just isn't that fun to play
>>12654804How so?
>>12654809>How so?Engine limiting the game to Wolf3D tier level design
>>12654635I miss when games would outright not let you 100% with unlockables if you didn't have a friend to play it with
>>12654635>coop modeWhat are you, a chicken?
>>12654976>What are you, a Reploid general?FTFY
>>12654635>ITT anon has zero tolerance for the ways other people played the game
>>12654834>Wolf3D is le bad
with my what?
>>12655049There's a reason why Doom's mapping and modding scene is so much bigger
>>12656448Which of Doom maps and mods run on stock Genesis hardware?
>>12656685The fact that something runs on stock Genesis hardware doesn't make it fun to play, even if it's technically impressive
>>12654635*beaten
>>12656748It's fun to play in spite of running on stock Genesis hardware. Your only argument of it being "not fun" is its techical inferiority to a 32-bit game
>>12654635I'm surprised the Genesis 3 allowed this. I figured it would have some sort of weird inconsitency with system linking or something.
>>12654635>with your friendI dont have any friends. I haven't had any friends in the last 20 years
