There's a lot of confusion on this issue because Maki's sprite in FF2 never displays her panties and Maki's sprite in Capcom vs SNK 2 displays her panties as being black, so a lot of people (fan artists, modders, etc) assume she had black panties in FF2 as well. Well, the speculation is over. It is now confirmed that the actual color of Maki's panties in FF2 was red. We know this thanks to this lesser known official artwork of her posted in X by a Capcom developer.
