Which genres/series aged horribly?Which aged the best?
>>12675317you're mother
I have no idea what you mean. how can a genre age poorly?
>>12675317Shoot em ups, they are still nes games with very few exceptions
>>12675330>how can a genre age poorly?Beat em ups got entirely replaced by character action games.
>>12675330FMV games that were pretty much novelties and nothing more
>>12675317Old RPGs are just miserable to play
Pure adventure games died out by the turn of the century for good reason
>let's ask a bunch of faggots and brown people their subjective opinion! Surely this time it will be a great discussion
>>12675394why are you talking about yourself?
>>12675340Arkham still has the sovl of a beamup, but that potential is wasted in favor of cutscenes and voice acting
>>12675354I'd argue they were bad from the start, so they didn't age at all
>>12675758exactly. Games don't age. When people say "x has aged badly" then x was never good, or they are wrong and are too pampered by modern amenities, which often enough, make games worse, ironically.
>>12675797But you can look at a game like Twisted Metal 1 and compare it to Twisted Metal Black and objectively say TM1 aged horribly, whereas Black is still perfectly playable today.
>aged>Character action Will someone please cull all Zoomers already
>>12675856Nothing would change because everyone here is a millennial
>>12675846then TM1 is not that good. Just because there was nothing better available at the time, the relative best does not make something good, objectively. I.e. for a while pike and shot era weapons were the shit, but they were never actually good. Just more effective than what came before. It's really difficult to argue without hindsight, but when technology is the limiting factor to realise your ideas, your product will lack quality. And if not, then your idea has room left for improvement. And if you temper your design to accomodate for limiting factors, one has to mind that during the assessment.
>>12675886Wow
>agedWhy is this board flooded with people who hate its subject matter?
Didn't Beat 'em ups pretty much give birth to the Fighting games?
>>12675317>agedSeries don't "age", you're just an underage faggot who will never fit in with the hobby he tries to attach himself to.
>>12675906Legit real psychoanalysis here but they have this hate-hate relationship with retro games because their generation has created nothing. They feel like they "have" to have a hobby, and they see so many people having fun and laughing and enjoying life with retro games, so they attach themselves to it like mollusks, but they can't let go of their resentment that everything good was made before they were born so they they just shriek like squalid children and constantly try to complain and shit on everything and act like they've literally been victimized for being "tricked" into a playing a game that didn't let them have "a good time". They hurt all the time, so they want others to hurt, and try to attack them through the thing they love that they're unable to feel genuine emotion for. It's really, really messed up.
>>12675868There's no technicality that lets you off the hook, zoom. If you type nonsense like that you're a dipshit zoomer regardless of what year you were born in, and your head deserves the chopping block.
