Not only can Retroachievements teach you things about your favorite games, but it is also a fantastic place to find romhacks that you've never heard of before and translations for popular games that you didn't know existed. Recently I found the best (no exaggeration) THE BEST shmup ever made on the DS and it is CAVE's Ketsui but condensed down into a boss rush mode for the DS but it was only released in Japan. I found an English translation and now I'm playing it. It is unfortunate that it is a bosses only mode but it absolutely helps you learn and practice the boss patterns for when you want to try your runs with the real arcade game.
