Why did earthworm jim get a cartoon? Why didn't Bubsy get a cartoon? Why didn't Gex get a cartoon? Why didn't Toe Jam and Earl get a cartoon? Why didn't Aero the Acrobat get a cartoon? Why didn't Boogerman get a cartoon? Why didn't Super Mario World get a cartoon? Why didn't rayman get a cartoon?
>>12679348Clark, what's your theory on this?
>>12679348Because it did. Because they didn't.
>>12679350No idea, that's why I asked. There's always a market for shitty, cheap cartoons that kids will watch off of nothing but brand recognition but Earthworm Jim was really the only one that capitalized on it(outside of sonic who was way more recognizable than almost all of the other mooks). Who tf is clark?
>>12679353Great contribution, faggot
>>12679348>Why didn't Bubsy get a cartoon? They made a pilot but it didn't go anywhere, same with Battletoads.
>>12679348>Why didn't Super Mario World get a cartoon?Boy thread, report and move on
>>12679357You play the role of Clark, I will be Deborah.Clark, I suspect Doug Tennapel may have something to do with this. He is a cartoonist, after all.
>>12679363I'm watching the bubsy one now, it's awful so far.>>12679364What are you on about schizo? Do you not remember the the adventures of super mario bros 3?>>12679368Is that the guy that made the character? People made all these characters, why didn't the rest have shows?
Im sure op is intentionally retarded, but the last two did get toons.
>>12679383>why didn't the rest have shows?Clark the answer is in pudding. Doug is already a cartoonist.
>>12679383>I'm watching the bubsy one now, it's awful so far.Well yeah, there's a reason it didn't become a full cartoon.
ToeJam & Earl would have made for a great cartoon.>yo Earl, I found a piece of the ship.>nice, lets go get it!>its on the salvage yard and the guy wants 25 bucks for it..>guess we'll have to get a job.>*they start working at a super market*
>>12679385super mario world didn't get it's own show like smb3 did and the rayman show lasted for 4 episodes and was only broadcast in 3rd world countries so I'm sure lots of people have never heard of it>>12679363i never knew battletoads got a pilot
>>12679383>What are you on about schizo? Do you not remember the the adventures of super mario bros 3?I do. Do you not remember the Super Mario World cartoon? Of course you don’t, you weren’t born until twenty year after.
>>12679392...because there was already a show about a cartoon bobcat on the air?
"Hey, /vr/! Look what I made!""AHAHAHA! It's a shit thread OP, you did make it."
>>12679404nta but I don't remember the super mario world show. I remember the super show, mario bros 3, the zelda show and captain n
>>12679401Super Mario world did get a cartoon. 13 episodes in 91. It was paired up with captain n.
>ynr the Donkey Kong Kountry Kartoon
>>12679393They could have done some cool things with it but I'd bet it would turn into a Ren and Stimpy knockoff
>>12679348>tyool 2026>being that kid that kept shouting why
>>12679425Probably yeah, which sucks because having these two aliens deal with humanity's bullshit in every episode would have been comedy gold.
>>12679348>Why did earthworm jim get a cartoon?because Playmates took ownership of the brand and they were looking for a new Toyline. So they made a Earthworm Jim line of toys and then made a cartoon series to advertise that toyline. Which was still standard practice in 1995 to some degree. >Bubsy get a cartoon?Failed pilot. >Toe Jam and Earl get a cartoon? They were sidelined by Sonic. >Why didn't Aero the Acrobat get a cartoonPeople looked at the failed Bubsy pilot and skipped it.>>12679348>Super Mario World get a cartoon? It was made by DiC: https://youtu.be/ctvW3eBcSqg>Why didn't rayman get a cartoon? It did. It has a CG cartoon series: https://youtu.be/g7902tAmhfo
>>12679368>Clark, I suspect Doug Tennapel may have something to do with this. He is a cartoonist, after all.Pretty sure Doug Tennapel's imput on the Earthworm Jim cartoon was minimal at best, as he may have had some minor creative output and was mostly credited for creating the characters and he did make at least once cameo voice over in one episode. The show was mostly conceived by Playmates and Universal Cartoon Studios who were looking for projects. Question is, Universal Interactive owned the Crash Bandicoot license... why didn't they make a CG Crash cartoon series?
>>12679393>ToeJam & Earl would have made for a great cartoon.>>yo Earl, I found a piece of the ship.>>nice, lets go get it!>>its on the salvage yard and the guy wants 25 bucks for it..>>guess we'll have to get a job.>>*they start working at a super market*This was made purely for the 'Back in the Groove" Kickstarter campaign. https://youtu.be/O07roHZlnqsi could see it being turned into an animated cartoon series. Or at leas a series of digital shorts.
I wasn't even alive when this show aired and even I remember the SMW WalrusGuy poops from 2007 or so. Do the bare minimum of research before posting next time.
>>12679661https://www.fullecirclemagazine.com/2017/01/a-conversation-with-earthworm-jim.html>JA: How surreal was it to see Earthworm Jim brought to life by Universal as an animated series and to hear the voice of Homer Simpson speak as a character you created?>DT: That was a surreal moment. The Simpsons had only been on the air for three years back then and Dan Castellaneta was a real catch. I remember listening to a lot of people trying out for the voice and his was the clear winner. Having my own TV series was an even bigger dream come true than the video game because I’d been watching cartoons a lot longer than I’d been playing games. I went from animating other people’s characters to executive-producing my own series. Suddenly, I was tracking Neilson ratings and monitoring a mass audience. I became aware of how a lot of people feel about my work instead of just me looking at an isolated image in my sketchbooks.>The Earthworm Jim series was animated by Universal, so I got to spend a lot of time on the lot. I remember driving my beat-up pick-up truck around the sets, sitting in on the record sessions and reviewing scripts. I didn’t have a lot of input on the show, I just did approvals and designed any new characters that showed up on the series. I was mostly just watching and learning how to make a show by experiencing it from the front row. Yeah pretty limited, but he did design new characters for the show and approve stuff.
>>12679425Nah no way. I think they'd be more laid back And the big guy is definitely voiced by Toneloc
>>12679408>nta but I don't remember the super mario world show. I remember the super show, mario bros 3, the zelda show and captain nIt was an ongoing continuation. The first Mario animated series was tied to the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. This was primarily based in Super Mario Bros. 2 since it aired in 1989. Super Mario Bros. 2 was a 1988 release. Super Mario Bros. 3 was originally paired with Captain N season 2 to market Super mario Bros. 3m which was released in 1990 . Super Mario World was originally paired with captain N Season 3 in 1991 and aligned with the launch of the Super Nintendo and Super Mario World. Captain N season 3 did not last very long.
>>12679648>>Why didn't rayman get a cartoon?>It did. It has a CG cartoon series:>https://youtu.be/g7902tAmhfo [Embed]The Rayman cartoon series only has 4 episodes and didn't get picked up for regular seasons. It was released in 1999 shortly after the release of Rayman 2. UBI Soft worked on the cartoon directly. But the show was very high quality for 1999 and too expensive to produce per episode. They had a full 26 episode season planned. Billy West even voiced Rayman. Raving Rabbids has a much more successful cartoon series that lasted for four seasons.
I remember seeing these on toy shelves back in 1995. I never bought any of them because I just wasn't into collecting toys, but I did watch the series. I wish I did buy some of the main figures like Jim and Psycrow. But oh well, that's hindsight for ya.
>>12679671yeah, I figures that he had more to do with the character designs than he did the plots, as Universal Animation Studio had their own pool of writers. So Doug was there as a creative consultant and character approval person. >>12679694https://youtu.be/RBOwgaQWap0
>>12679717i had this here in the UK would have been 8/9yo, the guns and snot were green coloured not red, jim fell apart and i had to glue it back together. i had peter puppy, which came with normal small figure and monster form, also had henchrat and evil the cat which came together.
I used to rent the VHS tapes from Hollywood Video every weekend.
>>12679348>Why tranny smith does keep making this bot threads?
>>12679360Great contribution, faggot
>>12679405I'm probably one of the few people in the world that actually likes Bonkers, at least the Lucky episodes. Once he got replaced with Miranda as Bonkers partner, it turned to shit, but the Lucky episodes are still entertaining to me. It's just Who Framed Roger Rabbit with the serial numbers filed off and made kid-friendly, but it still makes me laugh. The SNES game isn't amazing, but decent quality.
>>12679348The earthworm jim cartoon is awesome
>>12679717>>12679848same, that was the only one I had and the accessories were also green. Also the head base broke so it stopped being able to launch but damn was it a great figure. I had Bob from a Taco Bell toy which paired great with him
>>12679717I had Jim and Bob/#4, they were nice toys. I remember the plastic feeling high quality.>>12680173>taco bell toysDamn, you just awoke some deeply buried memories of mine. I remember getting those as kid, along with the commercial.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLxzW26yYpg
Earthworm Jim was never good
>tfw they also planned an MDK cartoon and toyline but the suits deemed it and the implications of its name too violent
>>12680262True, but it tried to be something new in an ocean of platformers that all followed the same formula. And thats why its fondly remembered.
I love the earthworm Jim show and action figures it was cool seeing earthworm Jim from those weird 16 bit video games in a cartoon. I feel like the second game tried to capture the tone of the cartoon more with the limited technology of the time
>>12680173same with mine the head wouldnt launch or stay clipped in, i just superglued it all.>>12680243>Bob/#4this was the next one i wanted.ended up giving all my toys to my younger cousins, wish i kept these ones.>>12680145>The earthworm jim cartoon is awesomeit is, it was at a time when cartoons were still good, also jim was voiced by dan castellaneta (voice of homer simpson) when jim does different voices you'll recognise a bunch from the simpsons.
>>12681760>>12681760test
>>12679405Retard.
Doug TenNapel who created Earthworm Jim was already an traditional animator before making Earthworm Jim.
>>12679405bonkers kek, marsupilami was better, also marsupilami is geting a new game soon.
