ITT: /vr/ games who basically suffered through multiple hit jobs through their lifetime.

How delusional do you have to be to think that some 40 year old boomer could really painstakingly go through dozens of unrelated games, including games that he probably couldn't even play to begin with, or games he wouldn't know about and extract sometimes large, sometimes tiny amount of visual or audio assets from them? Steve Bovis was barely computer-literate enough to ask how to do basic things in the engine.

You should be able to figure out what he meant when he "made excuses" that he "hired a 3rd party provider" for the art assets.
>>
And of course, that's just touching on the original pre 2010 era accusations. Obviously, after "creators" who turn wiki articles into videos got their dirty paws on the game, things would only get worse.

Everyone just parrots stuff from the "funny man videos" because nobody wants to give Limbo a chance.
>"How does Briggs know how to banish the mayor? Look how silly his face looks!! This is never explained!!!"

Meanwhile, in reality, the game explicitly forces you to find the book that not only explains how the Soul Taker is summoned, the requirements to summon it, but also how to banish it. Briggs banished him because he found the book and he gathered all the items necessary for the ritual.

It was already in the original.

Mary Celeste ghost ship is an interesting premise and if they were a little bit creative, they could've kino'd with a game better than the official pirates of the caribbean, combining spooky elements.
...But instead of cutting their losses and canning the project, they plowed through and became a laughingstock.

I don't know what game this is or what the contexto is but this thread feels like a fever dream

What the hell are you talking about?

TL;DR
>1990
Two bongs from Britbong make an adventure game for the Atari ST. It is rejected by publishers because it wasn't finished.
>1995
They ported it to Amiga, made an awe inspiring demo, but nobody wanted Amiga games anymore.
>2003
Development starts again with 3D tools. Game is remade from scratch, supposedly by this one boomer (pictured), after he convinced another boomer-rizzler to put all his savings into it and voice all the characters for him.
>2008
The game comes out under the title

LIMBO OF THE LOST

It is filled with scenes ripped out of movies, background art done by taking 2D screenshots from environments in various 3D games, 2D sprites also stolen from other games.
Big fiasco, everyone pulls out, the two guys (one of the lazy bongs from 1990 who hasn't done anything since then really, and the one who poured his life savings into it) blame the 3rd guy, Steve Bovis (pictured) and everyone paints him as a mastermind who orchestrated everything because he's evil. Some Swedish journalist also sells the story like that.

Almost a decade later
>2018
game explodes in popularity after a male VTuber publishes a popular video "review" of the game. All the remaining copies on eBay spike massively in price. Guy doesn't know how to read so he claims the puzzles are nonsensical and everyone is a dum dum and he's smart.

>2025
In Poland, Limbo of the Lost was considered a groundbreaking adventure game with stunning graphics and revolutionary gameplay. Due to the life-changing experience, the Polish fans decided to lay off the Żywiec for a bit, and work hard to fix the bugs in the game.

LIMBO OF THE LOST : ENHANCED EDITION

comes out and since it runs better, more people can actually play it and see that this was, in fact, an adventure game classic 18 years in the making, on the level of some Sierra games and... better than Curse of Enchantia.

Pipe down, Boris. This ain't oblivion and nobody cares about this game.
The peasantry don't care about this garbage and it's got an interesting story spanning decades

They already did that for the Atari/Amiga version.

This would be absolutely ignored in court. Just a super rare example because of the scrutiny that came with the 2008 release.

Even the fucking concept art from that time was traced.

>Comments on Youtube suggested this may be a talking character from the Fallout series. This is impossible, as this image was published in an Amiga magazine 2 years before the original Fallout came out.
[and unironically right next to it]
>Following the comments on Youtube, this may be a character portrait from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale.

This is how desperate these people are.

It was written in 1990 thoughbeit

this is kind of an interesting story and all, but why does op sound schizophrenic

>be passionate about a small and messy piece of videogame history
>schizo
come on... let the schizo have his ramblings...
Anyways, I think the ripoff aspect is not that interesting. The insights on how the cake was baked back in retro days is more valuable.

Which other adventure game had the guts to pull off an ending plot twist like this?

I don't really understand what this thread is about but Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand. I liked it a lot but people still regurgitate faggy reddit opinions about it being the worst falcom game ever.

Uh... is this another place for me to defend E.T. again??? Ehh probably not. I do like E.T. though. Anyway yeah Limbo of the Lost is probably interesting too
>>
>>12682120
E.T. was just a case of greediness and short-sightedness, there was no passion for it.
It's yet another tale of a business caring only about the mulah and not the bigger picture/sustainability
>>
>>12682120
>I do like E.T. though.
Why??
>>
I would say that the entire point and click adventure genre in general is vilified not only on /vr/ but all other /v/ boards
>>
>>12682325
E.T. touched me like no other illegal alien when I was a child
