You can slide between bosses legs in that game, which really threw me off when I was younger because I was used to NES megaman at that point and reasonably though "Avoid contact damage".

Yeah, the other fucked part is that it's possible to dodge his attacks without doing that, it's just extremely tight timing. You might just end up with the impression that the game is super hard and not that you're doing something wrong.
