>fixes your scratched disc
>>12687810I used a Disc Dr. Thing, the one that you crank and polishes a layer off the disc. I think it may have worked for a game or two?
>>12687810>sand in the toothpaste scratches the disc even furtherdid people really do this shit?
I remember scratching a copy of Kingdom Hearts and it would freeze up when entering the shack on Destiny Island. I pissed on the disc and it worked better.
>>12687828It ruined all my GTA discs. Eventually the game would be unable to load an area and then it would hang with a DVD read error displayed on the screen. My copy of Shadow of the Colossus looks fine but whenever I beat the first one the game softlocks in the loading transition. I tried cleaning it multiple times and no changes.
>>12687810i think i tried it once out of desperation, and nope, it didnt work.
>>12687810You need a disc repairer tool, in the past easy to get and cheap (3 to 5 dollars) now the prices are going up (35 to 40 dollars).
Those handcranked disc polishers are a scam, you need an actual proper buffing machine, which you can rent in some places for a small fee.
>>12687856You're describing the millennia old process of polishing, anon.
>>12688324the sand in toothpaste isn't fine enough to polish a disc
>>12687810This shit never worked.Only thing that worked was turning the console sideways
It actually worked on my copy of Sonic Adventure 2 for Gamecube.I got it for cheap but very scratched. Played fine until the pyramid level where it started not reading. Tried the tooth paste method and worked.
>>12687810I unironically tried this once and regretted it. Because I was gaslit.
>>12687810Does this work on the silver inner ring?
>>12687810i tried toothpaste, bananas and putting them on the fridge.toothpaste was tricky and required skill to polish the disc correctly.rubbing a banana worked well enough if the scratches were light.fridge method also worked fine, but it was only worth it if you put the disc in your pc right away to back it up.
>>12687810i know it's not retro, but the only home remedy for video games that ever worked for me was putting my red ring of death 360'd noscoped console under towels while letting it run for a couple hours.after being scammed with so many disc fixes, i was expecting failure, but it legit saved my 360 for the entirety of me using it
>>12687828I made permanent opaque swirls in otherwise perfect discs of Final Fantasy 7 and Resident Evil 2 using this bullshit. The issue was the worn laser sled, not the discs, but my stupid teenager self didn't realize this until too late.
>>12687810Saved my D2 LoD disc
>>12687856yes. the same way people rub magnets on hard drives and delete system32.
>>12689061If you still have those discs, they can be repolished with a proper machine.
