I don't get it. People call it legendary but it just seems kinda generic and bland from what I've played so far.

i like the first game better but i would give 2 a better review score. given that the world has talking dog people in it, the story is serious and filled with a lot of political intrigue and i think people like the dynamic between the main characters having actual struggle and not the normal trope of everyone just getting along and saving the world.

S3 is my favorite and turned me into a knight waifu enjoyer.

They are pretty mid games, not sure what people see in them, but if >>12687842 is to go by, I guess they werent the blandest games at least.

2's politics are so shallow I wouldn't even call them politics, just slightly dressed up reasoning for the everyone to be retarded and get conquered by the kingdom so the protagonist can pick up the pieces (or stars rather)

>didn't play Suikoden 1 first

It gets better 40 hours in

The vampire girl is very cute. That's about all I can say about it.

This is the only one I’ve played and I loved it. The OST is so good, one of the best OST’s in gaming imo.

The music is great. The Lakeside Castle song is 1/1

By my adult standards, it's a subpar jrpg because it has meaningless random encounters that force you to waste time watching 'cool' animations. One of the very first encounters, it's a group of like 6 little piles of shit that you deal with the exact same way every time. I'm not doing it.

For a game with so many party members the customization is bad. 90% of them are so weak there's no reason to play them unless you're doing a challenge run, and anytime you want to switch, you have to go to your castle and take off every item individually, then re-equip them to the new person. Chrono Cross did it better.

Lakeside is great, but Alma Kinan is probably my favorite chill track of all time in a video game or probably any medium w music. I’d literally just chill in the area listening to it and getting goosebumps.

i always recruit everyone but i never really use most of the characters in battle

Everyone levels up to the current area in like two fights in suikoden because the catch-up multiplier is so extreme. There's no reason to be stingy about bringing new people along

The first one's story and locations are so much better. Everything in 2 is so shallow in comparison, even the recycled plot points are poor copies.

Also going 3D after it was a huge, ugly blunder.
