What's a reasonable setup for a living room emulation machine?
>>
>>12688817

I've been using this guy for years and it works well enough. Hot key for on-screen keyboard. Only gripe is the d-pad on the original steam controller fucking sucks balls. What were they thinking?
>>
>>12688817
What kind of controller is that? Is it even real? I can't make out the company from the logo on the bottom right.
>>
>>12688817
>Gaming laptop
>Attach HDMI from laptop to TV
>Plug a PS5 controller into the laptop
>Play your emulated games on your TV with the best current controller on the market
>>

I too use a PS5 controller on my PC to play retro and modern games, but I have been wondering if it really is the best out there. I really like the controller in the OP pic and I wonder if it's even real.

Rapsberry Pi for up to PS1/N64
Mini PC, Steam Deck or just a laptop for PS2 and Xbox.
>>
>>12689228
I think it's a GameSir G8, meant for mobile phones but I suppose you could fit a small keyboard like in the OP in there too, or it's a custom job.

I use mine in my iracing cockpit, and the seat is so comfortable that sometimes I end up watching a movie or posting on 4chan from my PC while sitting in it. I’m even posting this with my SC.

I use mine as a touch D-pad without feedback, and the texture alone is enough to know what you’re pressing. I reached “Killer” rank on Killer Instinct with my SC.
The real issue with this controller is that Valve assumed the end user would be creative enough to come up with solutions using the Steam Input API, but they were mistaken.

A Steam Controller has nothing to do with Kinect.

It's just a funny image man, no one on this board can take a joke.

You are 100% correct. Thank you, it was driving me crazy that I couldn't find it online.

a laptop. maybe hdmi to tv if you have one
>>
Android box with an Xbox controller. Has standalone emulators for most systems, plus retroarch. You can use some front ends if you want.
Plays everything up to ps2, which requires some tweaks to get going and isn't 100% perfect (still playable though) but I'm using an older device so some newer ones might be better.

Many of us are autistic and tend to overlook, overanalyze, and overthink just about everything.
>>

I believe that is a GameSir G8 Galileo but with a mini bluetooth keyboard inside of it.

Wow I glazed over someone already answered this. I'm trans btw.

Uh, quite a lot of things, a PC hooked up to the TV, a modded Wii or PS3 or something, a Raspberry Pi, etc. Probably also the Steambox, if hardware prices ever fucking go down.

If you mean input, any decent and compatible gamepad, and then any compatible mouse and keyboard for handling and for potential PC games.
I prefer wireless, but some people seem to think that even 10ms of input lag is somehow crippling, so that's up to you.

>>12689250
Huh, that's kind of a smart idea, actually.
>>
>>12688817
That looks uncomfortable as hell. Imagine it just resting flat against your balls, like a little seesaw.
>>12688840
miring the ball space on this one.
>>
>>12689237
I can’t get with that faggy brand name

Mini PC + Keyboard w/ Touchpad.

Use a hacked modern console.
>>
Your main bigass ATX PC that you carry into the living room where there are hookups for it.
It takes less time than you might think, like 3 minutes.
>>
>>12689590
It's so cringe that it's based
especially when the joke gets taken a step further and you call it GameSaar
>>
>>12690350
You could just use any shitty little stick PC as a Steam Link and connect whatever controllers or peripherals you wanted to it.
>>
We live in a reasonably golden age of emulation, tbhdesu. Just countless different options for good or excellent emulation of games, with all kinds of setups.

Like, you can get one good gamepad for your computer and use that for a wide range of games, or you can go further and set up something more complex on your living room TV. These games will never die.
