Genuinely better than MGS. It has much better pacing, level design and overall game design.
It's a good follow-up to MG1 and MG2, but it's not better than MGS lol
>>12692036MGS has more cutscenes and codec calls than gameplay.
I never have a good time whenever I play one of these 2D Metal Gear games.
This is the hardest MG I've ever completed
>>12692039>~12 hour long game>2 hours and 20 minutes of cutscenes, nearly all of which are skippable. You're retarded.
>>12692047MGS is a 2 hour game with at least 4 hours of cutscenes.
>>12692047>2 hours and 20 minutes of cutscenes,Is that counting codecs? I never knew there was that much
>>12692050lol le ebig meme, have an updoot good sir!
>>12692051Yeah, that includes codec calls.
>>12692057I'm not joking.
>>12692068>if you speedrun it, it's only two hours longywnbaw
>>12692070Beating the game in under three hours is required to get the best rank, that timer includes cutscenes by the way.
>>12692073>that timer includes cutscenes by the wayall of which are skippable
>>12692076No shit otherwise getting Big Boss rank would be objectively impossible.
Fuck this level.
>>12692050It’s about five hours long if you skip everything and are hauling ass.
>>12692035I started playing this a couple days ago actually, it's fun so far but some levels are too big and samey for their own good. I don't mind big levels but not when every room looks the same and some room layouts are re-used several times.
some of the gimmick sections in gb are easily as bad as mgs1's backtracking issues.
>>12692039MGS gameplay is padding between cutscenes and boss fights. It knows it's a movie game and doesn't pretend to be anything else (unlike it's sequels with shitload of "gameplay" where you walk around from loading zone to loading zone)
>>12692039If you're a fan of MGS1, you're calling everyone on the codec constantly to hear if they have something new to say.People always have to break MGS down into its separate parts and minute gameplay details because they know trying to judge each game as a complete package would leave anyone saying "yeah this was a quality game!"
>>12692035Let me guess: Your favorite FF is 6, favorite RE is 4, favorite Ridge Racer is 64, favorite Sonic is Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, favorite Doom is 64, favorite Tony Hawk is 1 and favorite Soul Calibur is 2.
>>12692035It's the best GBC game I have played by far
>>12692702>t.person who has played only 1 GBC game so far
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I never cared for turn-based RPGs, so I was playing this at school instead of Pokemon. I'm still kicking myself for losing my childhood copy. I was impressed by how many VR missions they were able to put in the game, which included a bunch of missions from the VR missions disc adapted to work in 2 dimensions.>>12692190This section sucked though, I remember mapping it out by hand. Also, there's an exploit that spoils the stealth somewhat when you figure it out When you trigger an alert, just go back and forth between two screens until the timer runs out
>>12692068Do you need to play the game? Does anything important happens during gameplay?
>>12692779I have played around 30
>>12692819MGS relies on consistent meta references to connect the player (you) with the main character you control. It's why they don't work as movies.
>>12692068>speedrunWhy are you gay?
>>12692035I wasn't impressed. So much of the plot was just the same as MGS1's except with changed names, and separating the gameplay into stages instead of being a single overworld took me out of the action.
>>12692047how the fuck would you spend 12 hours on MGS? I played the game when I was 11 and beat it over a weekend rental. What do you even do for 12 hours when theres only like 15 rooms in the entire game
I know this isn't /vr/, but are the Metal Gear Acid games any good? Can you play them without knowing the MGS story?
>>12692068this is your brain after speedrunning
>>12693310Acquired taste, but I like it. They're the perfect 'play while comfy in bed on a cold night' sort of games. And yes the story is its own, non canon thing.
>>12693310First one can be a chore at times and the story is a mess. Second game is a straight up improvement and if you don't have completionist tism I'd recommend skipping 1 and only playing 2. Wish there were more tactical rpg stealth games, they're usually combat only.
>>12693289Well the plot is considered non-canon anyway
It's sad that it's the last 2D Metal Gear, but at least it's the best one
>>12692039>MGS has more cutscenes and codec calls than gameplay. It's one of the gayest and self flagellating video games of all time. You can practically see Kojima masturbating in front of a mirror.

Metal Gear Solid Collection 2 has been given an R18+ rating in Australia. I had thought that maybe MGS4 or PW had been re-rated, but both those games still have their original MA15+ rating if you buy them separately on the Nintendo eShop. It's the bonus content that has been given the R18+ rating for "High impact references to sexual violence", meaning that either the soundtrack of Ghost Babel has something related to sexual violence. It could be that they're including the tapes regarding Paz from Ground Zeroes in the soundtrack, but I doubt that, so it must be in Ghost Babel.Does anyone know what this could be referring to? The Official Film and Literature Classification board has a massive hard-on for giving games with the vaguest hint of sexual assault a R18+ rating.
