Even if these games weren't meant to be the end. I wish.

worst retro pokemon

The peak of the series, but Emerald was good too. D/P was truly the end.

>got to battle monks and shit and it actually felt distinctly oriental
>modern games can't capture how uncanny and eerie 8-bit games are
/r/ a romhack that fully leans into this
>>
my trans unc still plays these at grandma's house
>>
>ending before the series' best entry
Why? Pokémon peaked at Emerald.

Right after this game Nintendo told game freak to sanitize the game to appeal to a global audience and it lost its Japanese feel

I love G/S and it's amazing as a "Pokemon 2". I know it's used a lot, but people bitching about how apparently god awful these games were literally weren't there. Everyone bitching about how tedious a lot of the mechanics and shit are playing to check a box.

This was the game you played the whole summer, if not all year at least. Shit happened on different days. You found different Pokemon at different times of day, so whenever you played there could be something different. Headbutt trees, etc. were all things meant to be discovered and shared and discussed at school with friends or whatever. You bred Pokemon and got pre-evos, or moves they normally wouldn't have, or whatever. You just played the fucking game. When you go online and analyze every single mechanic and detail just to play through and find and catch everything, just so you can say that you "played it" or "beat it", you miss the point entirely. This is why gen 2 always fucking stumps newbies, nuzlockers, or whatever.

I'd argue too that the Stadium games basically complete gen 1 and 2, and anyone is missing out otherwise

I wish they werent the end but its a shame they were. Gamefreak obviously made out like bandits with the future of pokemon but the series itself suffered by being a collection of remakes only instead of making something new. RS being remakes of RB is pretty depressing in hindsight.

Had a lot of fun playing Gold back when it was released.
For Gen 1, I only managed to trade and battle like 2 or 3 times, when me and my friends who lived far away could reunite. Great times though, memorable as fuck.
But for Gold, I had a bunch of friends I'd see frequently and we traded and battled and did mystery gifs a lot.
Never really played any other pokemon game though, later on I completed the Stadium games though, which I loved too.

I dont argue with pokemon fans, enjoy your series.

I played Silver when I was 7 and every single criticism I have for the games is the same criticism I had back then.
>you don't even get a clue on how to find a ton of Pokemon, because nobody in the game uses them so you can't look in the dex for them
>all the time of day and day of the week shit is annoying and just means you're locked out of content if you don't play the game all day every day
>a ton of the new Pokemon are completely fucking useless from their very conception, there's no reason at all to use Pichu when you already must have Pikachu or Raichu to get it
>the Unown are set up as this giant mystery (Crystal is especially guilty of this) and they have absolutely no pay off
I get it, you have nostalgia for just running around aimlessly with your 'bros', and you got a hard-on when it was dark outside and ingame at the same time. That's cool. When I got my hands on Sapphire, I never touched my copy of Silver again.

It’s literally one autist sperging out in Gen 2 threads. Pokemon has some of the most annoying autismos in gaming.
>>
>>12695682
I agree completely with the Unown shit. Unless you really care to get each one, but even then it's underwhelming.

The other shit is just about the discovery from playing the game. You don't have to "play all day everyday." There's just shit happening whenever you have time to or feel like playing. Even the babymons are useful for Little Cup.

Nigga i'm not even a pokefag and what you said was retarded

Nostalgia is truly the cancer behind Pokemon. Even when I was 9 I realized that these games have HUGE flaws. Like the lack of new pokemon to the lackluster post game. And how about the awful level curve? These games were rushed and it shows. (Even in the leaks).
>>
I used to complain about "muh level curve" too, but if you replay the game and explore everything as it becomes available to you (Going back to caves, etc) the level curve is great.
>>
>>12696092
Easily one shot every trainer is not good design. Even Yellow, despite it's flaws, were more challenging than the latter.

>putting words in my post
I have never been over leveled in GSC in my life lol.
>>
>>12696102
>never been overleveled
You didn't played the game
