What is the definitive version. PS1 or heavily modded PC version?
>>12695510Ps5
>>12695510None as of yet. They're decompiling the PS1 version (specifically the FF7 NTSC-U version), and they will make a new port of it.
>>12695510They made a mobile game, so if you're gonna go that route, might as well just rip the models from the mobile game and then insert them into the PC version.
>>12695538Ever crisis? It's shutting down already
>>12695510PS1 with the Final Proofread VII patch.
Original release
chibi but realistic is the intended experience nowadays. best of both worlds
>>12695548>Ever crisis? It's shutting down alreadyIt's cute. If you post clips or images, people think it's heavily modded FF7.The art style for the backgrounds are really damn close to the FF7 style, and it tells me they can make this if they want to.
Can I play the Steam version with the MIDI music?
These HAVE to be trolling, no way you faggots actually like this atrocious shit
>>12695510>modded PC versionThis is never the definitive anything. If a game needs mods to be "good", it's a shit game. And any mods you add onto an already good game are just muddying the experience and shitting on the creators vision. "Hurr it was the creators vision to run the game in 240p and blocky polygons?". Yes.
>>12695563Zoomers were a mistake
>>12695534Nice. Hadn't heard.
>>12695574Project just started so it would tkae some time. This will result in a new glitch free version of the game. For those who don't know, the final FF7 pc port has a host of glitches and mistakes, both big and small, and few were fixed. To this day if you play it on the PS4, the entire shading and shadow system for battles is completely bugged. The PC porters also were using an older version of the game, not the final one used for the PS1 release. They also messed up with the mouths since the game has a whole mouth animation system which is mostly turned off, and instead the PC modders just have it default to the first texture in the mouth animation list. Which means O mouths for everyone.
>>12695581No matter how modded a game is, the entire shadow system is simply turned off in battles.
>>12695563I am inclined to believe its bait much like all the other disingenuous FF7-9 threads
>>12695593So ignore what you think of the PC version or the aestetic of the mods focus on the shadows and shading in the background. No matter how many mods they throw at it, it's still simply turned off in the PC version. This is how shadows are supposed to look in the PS1 original.
>>12695601PC version.
>>12695550This. /End Thread
Is the 2026 version to be ignored?
>>12695625It's fine. I did my last playthrough with it just to play it unmodded again after so many years. The backgrounds are a little blurrier, that's about all I noticed.I'll use the 2013 version with mods again when I play it next time.
>>12695601>>12695603Quite frankly, I don't care.I have have my childhood PSX discs, I play it on PC modded and enjoy it much more this way. Why would that bother you so much? I guess play in 224p and enjoy load times then, you do you.
>>12695557kill it with fire
>>12695510heavily modded looks weird
>>12695653>Why would that bother you so much?Cuz it's a clear glitch you dolt. It's not any attempt at an improvement, and the "advance lighting" mods just assume that the glitched shadows is the "default". We're in real plato's cave shit here. The PC port aimed for specific PC architecture, and probably had working shadows on release. The audio is more obvious so people begged to get it fixed. A new modern source port with decompiled source code would aim for a new pc port and to fix all the various bugs and omissions in the original PS title, and avoid all the bugs and issues the current PC version has.
>>12695723>Cuz it's a clear glitch you dolt. And I don't care. I don't care about "developers' intent" one bit.Picrel, see that pale blue rectangle? That's us, that's here, that's the original PSX resolution that they still needed a black bar at the bottom to run efficiently enough.I was born in the '80s, I don't have some weird desire to prove to randos that I play on original hardware. They're just video games. PSX load times aren't ideal when you're switching screens every few seconds.
>>12695737>And I don't care. I don't care about "developers' intent" one bit.We know the PC port had a host of issues, and the majority wasn't fixed with re-releases. The mouths are broken, and because the porters didn't really understand what they were doing with this system, which the original Japanese devs had omitted. What you're saying is "why aim for higher" and arguing for complacency. Yeah, the pc port is from 1998, and it's so long people have gotten used to its quirks and problems. But that doesn't mean we have to accept it.
If you’re bothered by the Lego people aesthetic, you might as well play the goddamned remake.
>>12695510The original is an all-time classic. The other one is a heavily modified version of it.
>>12695747I don't have the O mouths on either my 2013 or 2026 pc port. You're arguing about little stuff. The game plays and runs better on PC. If playing on original hardware makes you feel good, go for it. I beat it twice on PSX + CRT as a teenager, it's all there was. Once I got the PC port with a speed boost and no load times? That was the only way to play from then on for me. I sometimes do runs with stock graphics, sometimes hyper-modded with 30/60 fps and the world map textures all fanmade and live orchestral versions of the music modded in.
>>12695510The left is iconic. The right is zoomerslop. You weren't even there. Go mod fortnite or whatever
>>12695653That shadow mod gets my blessing, looks good
If your FF7 doesn't look like this then you have a big problem.
>>12695510Nino Style all the way. Don't listen to this niggers. Make sure to get the echoes mod for voice acting, too.Everyone that says otherwise is a larping faggot.
>>12695795
>>12695567Thats dumb argument because games like gta san andreas had infamously bad ports only mods can fix. Its not their vision its laziness
