For those who said Mario 64 wasn't possible on the 3DO
>>

it's called super mario 24 because it went from 64 bits to 4 bits

This will be graphics in 1999.

That wasn't on a 3DO.

It’s called Super Mario 24 because you turn 24 degrees and buy a better console.

Kinda of astonishing when he says its pretty good for 3DO when N64 was only 2 years newer, that very specific 5 year period was insane for progress.

>>12697406
gba too but still pretty cool, its about programming fun and seeing whats possible. I think it'd be cool to do a model viewer Genesis even if its a frame is every 30 seconds.

Playstation should theoretically control even better than N64, but how are you supposed to translate the controls to this? Unless they released a six-button controller that I'm unaware of, you'd have to dedicate a button to swapping the D-pad to camera controls.

Not really, the N64 controller was designed around Mario 64. I've played through the game with a DS4 and it just doesn't feel natural without the gates of the N64 controller's analog stick.

I would say this even approaches the official DS port.

That's a charitable way of saying that Mario's movement is sloppy and inertia-heavy that he's uncontrollable without a physical structure guiding your movements toward 45 degree increments.
>>
>>12715882
That’s a charitable way of saying you’re still pissed that you chose the wrong console.

>>
>>12714945
I'm assuming these are all vibe coded because I can't imagine anyone even by accident coding a polygon clip system this inhumanly bad. Like jesus, even if you asked free gpt to code you a tri-quad clipper that uses only integer math it would do a better job. This must literally have been asking openclaw to make a saturn port.
>>
>>12718176
I believe if that were true the framerate would be single digits. No way any AI is trained on Saturn or 3DO assembly
>>
>>12718203
I dunno about the 3DO, but the Saturn was a C console. Only your traveller's tales guy was hand rolling his asm loops, everyone else was just running -O2 on the C compiler and complaining. The reason I think it's vibe coded is because there exists a modern Saturn devkit of sorts that makes it super easy to get basic 3D running on a real Saturn. And these demos are so amazingly bad it really does smell like some idiot took some exported models and set GPT loose on it and doesn't have the skills to rewrite the code, so just kept prompting until it was worthy of a youtube video.
>>
>>12697304
I'm legit curious why people do this.
It's a lot of work, is it for adding to the programming resume?
Like its neat that its doable but I doubt it remotely justifies the amount of time and effort it takes.
>>
>>12718218
Huh I was wondering about the influx of shit saturn demos.
>>
>>12718236
They do it for the same sorts of reasons that some people climb mountains. First of all, because they like to. It interests and amuses them. But also to prove that it is possible, to prove that they could do it, to exert power over reality by achieving a self-apparent feat ("because it was there"). Part sport, part stunt.
>>
>>12718254
>I was wondering about the influx of shit saturn demos
I wondered the same thing once, why so many were popping up, about 30 years ago. That wasn't the work of AI though.
>>
Nobody said it wasn't possible, we just said that anyone who wastes their life shoehorning software too advanced for trash 3D neutered machines is pathetic.
>>
>>12718529
>we
It's just you, you fat fuckup.
> anyone who wastes their life shoehorning software too advanced for trash 3D neutered machines is pathetic.
Nobody is nearly as pathetic as you, tubby. These people are honing their coding skills, engaging in fun community projects and sharing interesting demos with the world, instead of festering in their room and crying about everything.
>>
>>12714945
Lmao, so much for Shaturn "power"... No wonder Sega lost the moment they released this piece of junk. That's why the USA branch of Sega fought so hard to keep Genesis on the shelves for as long as possible, they knew Shiturn was a mess that should be fixed before getting pushed into manufacturing. Shiturn was vastly underpowered and shit compared to its competitors thanks to, in no small part, to shady deals between the execs of various Japanese hardware makers and therefore Sega struck a deal for a processor that couldn't handle 3D graphics as easily and well as PSX or N64. They were cooked in their own shit sauce in Japan, while in the West, the insane 32x add-on (highly priced and with no games worthy of buying it) introduced further confusion. And just like that, months later they released SHITURD anyway, to the disgust of everyone except hardcore Sega fanboys who'd rather donate their kidneys than see Sega crumble into a shell company.
>>
>>12718176
Shaturn was vibe manufactured decades before "vibe *something*" was a thing.
>>
>>12718254
And you didn't connect them with Shaturn itself being the source of shit? They're just demonstrating in easy and simple ways that this console was doomed from the beginning, trying to be on the level of PSX or N64 and failing miserably. It could still be used for some 2D/2.5D games.
>>
>>12714945
why does this feel like the Saturn Sonic games? Marios movement doesn't correlate with his speed
