The gold standard for licensed retro games

It's OK.
Best licensed retro games are usually Star Wars.

That's not Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PC version).

hh is better. people that put tit on a pedestal are just bedazzled by "throw guys at the screen" and the member berries of a few more locations and boss characters. hh plays better.
>>
>>12705514
HH feels better to play at first but once you play 5 mins or more and have a brain you realize that it fact, does not
>>
>>12705514
HH has no content. Enemy variety is poor, levels go on forever, 2 of its bosses are recycled from TMNT arcade and all are reused in a boss rush near the end.
>>

I hate that guy for trying to hype up this game just because you’re undefeated in a specific match type. It’s one of the few channels that tries to discuss games in depth, but most of the opinions are really stupid. It’s one of the best SNES BMUPs, but it’s far from being the best licensed game on the SNES.

tit "enemy variety" is a joke. 2 extra blue guys with weapons, a red guy with chains (that shows up twice, lol), an orange guy with a green ball/disc (shows up once), one more "one shot" foot soldier (comes in from the side, does a thing, but dies in 1 hit), a 1 extra rock soldier gun type. meanwhile, none of them meaningfully change how you fight them or create threat on the field. the blue guys with weapons are basically cosmetic changes. and also:
>>12705520
the ai is worse and less aggressive in tit. in hh, enemies will actually use their projectiles within a shorter time and from greater distances, as well as others using their melee moves quicker too. and hh does in fact control better/smoother. ALSO in hh you cant just skip ahead on many segments by just being on the right side of the screen like in tit. you actually have to kill all of the guys the game throws at you.
>>
>>12706181
Hyperstone Heist is borderline bootleg tier. Every level is the same four enemies copy and pasted forever, spawning in repeatedly until it lets you trudge forward, only for it to start up again. It never even has the little robots and foot members at the same time. Despite this it's so lacking in content the penultimate level is a really shitty boss rush in a recolored cave, just crap honestly.
>>
>>12706236
>borderline bootleg tier
they're extremely similar, but hh has more refined gameplay.
>Every level is the same four enemies copy and pasted forever, spawning in repeatedly until it lets you trudge forward, only for it to start up again
welcome to beat 'em ups.
both games are just foot clan, robots, rock soldiers (and pizza monster segments). having a couple of different melee weapons for cosmetic reasons doesnt really amount to much.
>boss rushes are bad because... because they just ARE, ok?!
weak.
>>
>>12706258
>having a couple of different melee weapons for cosmetic reasons doesnt really amount to much.
Yeah it does, the guys throwing bombs, the guys shooting arrows and the guys throwing discs are completely different from each other. All three appear in one level in Turtles in Time, along with several other enemies. The game doesn't stop in place and make you fight the same exact enemy repeatedly like Hyperstone Heist. You really need an extreme drive to be a contrarian to pretend Hyperstone Heist is better.
>>
>>12706263
>bombs and arrows
literally one and dones, and die in one hit.
>guys throwing discs
i watched through a speedrun to get an accurate enemy count of both games, and unfortunately the disc guys never got off an attack. i only saw them once though. the red guys with chains i think i only saw twice.
>The game doesn't stop in place and make you fight the same exact enemy repeatedly
the game quite literally does that. its what beat 'em ups do. 2 waves of purple and blues, move forward to the next screen, this one is whites and blues, move to next screen, 2 waves of rock soldiers, next screen this one is a bunch of oranges. funny enough, for speed tech you can often just be at the right side of the screen and progress to the next part without even clearing all of the guys in the second wave that came from the left (this is not a positive thing) you really need extremely low intelligence to not even understand how beat 'em ups work and speak so disingenuously in support of tit.
>>
>>12706276
Turtles in Time has variety in every level, each one introduces new enemies and gimmicks and at a fast rate, it's not stopping you to fight the same enemies spammed over and over. It is no exaggeration to say that Hyperstone Heist has the same exact tiny pool of enemies for every level, constantly locking the screen scroll to do the same exact shit. It's obviously lackluster beat em up design, something you'd expect from Jaleco, not Konami.
>>
>>12704060
First post faggot post.
>>12704043
Yes.
>>
>>12706285
>the same enemies spammed over and over
again, it quite literally is. total enemy count is 20, vs 14 in hh. the difference is 2 blue guys with melee weapons, red guy with chains, orange guy with green discs, one count of a oneshot (tit has orange guys with bombs, and green archers, hh has pink fire breathers, so 2 vs 1 there), and one gun type for rock soldiers.
otherwise its the same type of gameplay. the same beat 'em up style of waves of goons. the different weapons dont even matter because they dont DO anything. at least in hh the sword guys jump at you, the purple throwing star guys ACTUALLY throw at you, and the orange kunai guys actually do their move. the time it takes for enemies to do anything is significantly longer in tit by comparison, even in melee with punch guys or nunchuck guys. the "variety" is meaningless. complaining about the screen locking is retarded when every beat 'em up does that (including tit), and pretending that its a good thing that you can often just not fight guys at all is doubly retarded. ESPECIALLY when you're trying to champion the "enemy variety". well which is it? is it good because you have to engage with enemies, or is it good because you DONT have to fight them at all and can just move right off screen despawning them?
>>
>>12706181
>enemies are more aggressive in HH

Which doesn't matter because you can do this on a loop for the ENTIRETY of the game

Except for bosses, but they're also shit because all bosses except one can also be solved with the same pattern
>boss in the top right of the screen
>hit him a few times
>he runs to the bottom left of the screen
>catch up to him before he gets to do anything
>hit him a few times
>he runs to the top right of the screen
>repeat

The entire game is fucking shit and the only way people don't see it is if they never got good at a beat em up in their lives

and yes I know some other beat em ups that are actually good are also all about spamming a single move, like Double Dragon 2 on NES; the difference is that in DD2 the knee attack actually takes skill and timing to pull off consistently; in HH this takes zero skill.
And no, you can't just do this in TIT (only if you use the romhack that lets you run at will); and bosses are better in TIT too; on top of everything else other people have already pointed out.
>>
>>12706331
>Which doesn't matter because you can do this on a loop for the ENTIRETY of the game
so arguing whether poop is better than shit is pointless then.
>And no, you can't just do this in TIT (only if you use the romhack that lets you run at will)
lmao try watching a speedrun then. they arent using romhacks, and they do the same shit.
>>
>>12706328
>complaining about the screen locking is retarded when every beat 'em up does that (including tit)
When it's the same exact basic enemy on loop and it happens every two steps, it really stands out as extremely poor design. Notice how this problem only occurs in Hyperstone Heist.
>>
>>12706337
>lmao try watching a speedrun then
Holy shit speedruns of Hyperstone Heist are literally (not hyperbole) just one dash attack for the entire game, against the same enemy. Absolute bootleg core game.
>>
>>12706343
final fight and streets of rage 3 have even fewer.
additionally, you are still disingenuously exaggerating how "different" the foot soldiers or the rock soldier guns are, as well as wildly underplaying how basic the gameplay loop is in tit, especially with how identical it is to hh. both games are extremely easy, but hh just plays better. its more refined and the enemies actually DO their actions more. even in the clip 2 posts up, you can see the melee guys actually TRYING to punch before getting interrupted by the player's hit.
>>
>>12706359
>but hh just plays better.
It plays like a really shitty bootleg.
>>
>>12706331
>Except for bosses
bosses are 4 hits and then go invulnerable while they do an attack that changes sides, forcing mobility and engagement. unlike tit where you can just stunlock the boss from start to finish.
>>
>>12706356
just like the tit speedrun too. damn, its almost as if you have no argument and dont even know what you're talking about, lmao
https://www.speedrun.com/teenage_mutant_ninja_turtles_iv_turtles_in_time/runs/z1vp1jrz
>>
>>12706364
He does more than just dash attack. Hey look the screen doesn't constantly pause every two steps to fight the same enemy too, weird.
>>
>>12706337
>speedruns

Using speedruns as a mean to compare games and to claim 'this is how the games player for the average player' is retarded and dinsgeneous; and this comes from someone who actually has a WR on a game on speedrun dot com.
To the unaware eye, a speedrun will always look like the game is simple and retarded (or glitchy).
But in reality because both HH and TIT speedruns 'look' similar, doesn't mean that the means, skills and time, required to reach that result were the same; and reaching similar results to a 'speedrun' in HH is much, MUCH more simple to achieve than in TIT. An average beat em up player can figure this out >>12706331 about HH in just a few minutes; meanwhile it would take much much longer to achieve similar looking results for TIT.
>>
>>12704043
That's not Goldeneye 64.
>>
>>12706367
its literally just dash attacks or special attacks. thats it. probably some speed runner reason for it, because he quite clearly shows that you can just chain dash attacks.
>the screen doesn't constantly pause every two steps
it quite clearly does. you still have no defense for being able to scroll further and despawn enemies though, lol
>fight the same enemy
no, he's definitely fighting the same enemies over and over (and again, its incredibly generous to even count the blue ones and different rock guy weapons as "uniquely different"). in tit there are only 2 stages where you face 7 or more enemy types in a stage, while hh only has 1 stage (the boss rush stage) with under 7 enemy types. once again you prove to be disingenuous and retarded.
>>
>>12706383
you are wildly over exaggerating how difficult it is to chain dash attacks in tit, lmao. and yes, it is simpler (and smoother) in hh. its almost as if it controls better.
>>

>>12706397
Turtles in Time has more enemies, more variety moment to moment and is obviously the superior game in every way. This image is even missing the little disc guys on the ground and the flying guys in Neon Night Riders. Hey look one of two levels you can't even dash in.
>>
>>12706403
it has more enemies and more scenery, but thats about it. and again, even calling the different guns or melee weapons "different enemies" is extremely generous, as well as giving a shit about guys that do 1 thing and leave or die in 1 hit. also hilarious to care about guys that show up literally just once in two separate stages. hh is still the better game for controlling better and having better enemy ai.
>>
>>12706413
>even calling the different guns or melee weapons "different enemies" is extremely generous
They have unique AI and health values, certainly much better than dash attacking into the same enemies infinitely while the screen stops just to spawn more of them.
>>
It hasn't been mentioned yet but Hyperstone Heist is quite buggy. The hitboxes of the traps in the dojo stage are all messed up and enemies will sometimes fail to spawn. It happened to me the most during the Tatsu boss, which will leave him fighting alone and be piss easy. It's quite obvious that the game was cobbled together in a very short time.
>>
>>12706415
>while the screen stops just to spawn more of them
you seem really hung up on this part, and its just so hilarious how ignorant you are of tit doing exactly that.
>the same enemies
enemy types per stage:
tit:
stage 1: 4
stage 2: 5
stage 3: 6
stage 4: 5
stage 5: 7
stage 6: 6
stage 8: 10

hh:
stage 1: 7
stage 2: 10
stage 3: 9
stage 4: 3 (boss rush stage)
stage 5: 9
>>
>>12706420
>you seem really hung up on this part
Because it's so obviously shit it stands out like a sore thumb. Pretending something so blatantly low quality is superior to one of the best beat em ups of all time, it's peak contrarian retardation I'd expect from this board.
>>
>>12706419
weird, i never had a problem with the trap hitboxes, or ever really noticed anything "not spawning" from playthrough to playthrough. and enemies are pretty irrelevant in the tatsu fight anyway. also, lets not pretend like tit doesnt have bugs or glitches, like wrong warp or skipping the entire elevator.
>>
>>12706428
>Because it's so obviously shit it stands out like a sore thumb
damn, i guess tit must be shit that stands out like a sore thumb since it does the same exact thing. crazy.
>>
>>12706434
It doesn't though, Turtles in Time has different enemies appear and the screen scrolls forward at a brisk pace. Hyperstone bootleg just spams the same four enemies on loop every few steps, it's bad.
>>
>>12706430
Ok? You not noticing doesn't mean it doesn't happen. The game blatantly lacks polish, which coupled to how starved it is for content makes it obvious it was a rushed project.
>>
>>12706415
>>12706428
Turtles in Time has about 7 screen stops in the first stage. The second stage has like 9 or 10. I like Turtles in Time better too but come on man. Are you retarded?
>>
>>12706437
>the same four enemies
see: >>12706420 and learn how to count.
>>
It can't be overstated how perfect the pacing of Turtles in Time is. It's its greatest strength, even beat em up with deeper mechanics tend to get repetitive and overstay their welcome, but TiT doesn't. The stages are short and to the point, each has its unique gimmicks, there's always some new situation keeping you engaged, and then you have special stages like Sewer Surfing and Neon Night Riders to keep the playthrough even more fresh. HH completely fails at this, it's a really monotonous game.
>>
>>12706448
i doubt that you can even count what those mechanics or gimmicks ever are per stage, lmao
>>
>>12706452
Stage 1: giant Krang shooting laser beams and wrecking balls falling from the sky
Stage 2: falling into the open manholes
Stage 3: entire level is set on a surf board
Stage 4: stage has a mini boss and the actual boss requires throwing enemies at the screen
Stage 5: dinosaurs that trample you, flying dino birds that drop bombs, falling stalagmites from the cave ceiling
Stage 6: distant ships shoot cannon balls, marked floorboards will fly up in the turtle's face
Stage 7: stationary barrels that can be launched, falling barrels that roll towards the player
Stage 8: entire level is a mode 7 showpiece
Stage 9: hexagonal grid floor that freezes the player, bouncy ball things that can be hit or will attack, laser traps on the walls

This isn't even counting the fact that each level introduces at least one new enemy. Hyperstone Heist's bootleg ass just gets more humiliated the more you break it down.
>>
>>12706467
total of 16
you forgot the hydrant and dynamite/bombs, so i'll kick it up to 18 for you.

hh
stage 1: bombs, hydrant, car, manhole. 4
stage 2: surfing, falling painting, floorboards, falling barrels, stalactites (not stalagmites, lol). 5 (not counting bombs appearing again)
stage 3: candlesticks, ceiling spikes, floor spikes, wall lasers. 4 (5 if you count the ability to redirect tatsu's projectiles)
stage 4: none (except for tatsu again)
stage 5: giant balls, freeze traps, wall lasers (you counted the lasers of stages 1 and 9 as different, and these are a different pattern than stage 3's). 3.
total of 16. 17 if you include redirecting tatsu's projectiles. considering you count the throwing enemies at the screen for a boss thing, i think it should count.

wow, 1 single thing less. its pretty incredible how vastly you'll separate things based on such a tiny difference. but hey, i guess just 1 more jingling key makes that ring just that much more appealing to your baby brain.
>>
>>12704060
What? Super Star Wars is famously kusoge.
>>
>>12706467
Might as well include stuff like the mines, spiky gates and ? collectables in levels 3 and 8 too. And level 5 has trees partially obscuring your view in the first segment, that's another gimmick.

>>12706496
Since you brought up bosses we might as well talk about those. TiT has 13 unique bosses. HH has 1 unique boss (Tatsu) and 5 other ones that are taken from the first arcade game and TiT and practically identical (actually I seem to remember Learherhead and Rocksteady having less attacks). And you have to fight 4 of them twice. How's that for variety?
>>
>>12705592
>it’s far from being the best licensed game on the SNES.
Name 5 better licensed games on SNES
>>
>>12706643
>Might as well include stuff like the mines, spiky gates and ? collectables in levels 3 and 8 too
counting the whole level is good enough.
>trees partially obscuring your view
grasping at straws.
>bosses
first of all, lets be real. bosses in both games are pushovers. second, you can stunlock bosses in tit, turning them into non-entities, while bosses in hh at least force some engagement with mobility and a few moves. and third, you still dont have any argument against boss rushes existing other than "boss rushes are bad because... because they just are, ok?!"
>>
>>12706647
Ace wo Nerae
>>
>>12706662
>grasping at straws.
It sure as hell influences the fight more than some pointless things you can completely ignore like the single falling painting.
That's the problem with a simple count, it's not truly indicative how much the gimmicks influence the gameplay.
>first of all, lets be real. bosses in both games are pushovers.
"I-it doesn't count!"
Kek
>second, you can stunlock bosses in tit, turning them into non-entities, while bosses in hh at least force some engagement with mobility and a few moves.
HH bosses have worse AI. Rocksteady never shoots his gun if you keep hitting him, you can defeat both Baxter and his mousers just by kick jumping in place, and so forth. Not only they could't make new bosses, but they didn't even make the ones they were copypasting good.
>and third, you still dont have any argument against boss rushes existing
"Why would I want all new bosses when I can fight the same ones over and over again?"
t. a retard, apparently.

>>
>>12706747
>"I-it doesn't count!"
i didnt say it doesnt count, i just wanted to be clear that that they're such pushovers that its not really worth putting them on some kind of pedestal. just trying to be real about what we're talking about. and again, that goes for BOTH games.
>rocksteady
if you're quick with your timing, he wont be able to do some of his moves. however, the charging move is still a move and you cant prevent that. if you dont have great timing, you can still get interrupted and kicked too.
>new bosses
i guess threatless punchingbags having a different skin means a lot to you. not beating the jingling keys allegations.
>>

Yeah HH is a better game overall. Also the soundtrack absolutely SOUL DESTROYS snes TiT to the point of brutality.
>>
>>12708164
HH's renditions of the soundtrack are weaker compared to the original and it lacks Neon Night Riders, which deducts a lot of points. Also the controls feel off since it was an early Konami MD game and those weren't very good.
