Why no one talks about the FX?
>>12715092Have you played it's library? You'll find the answer there.
Anime-derivative crap.
>>12715092Barely qualifies as a game console
Did this thing have any form of copy protection? Would be a neat platform to see homebrew on like pc engine cd gets now and again.
It only has like 70 games, and half of them are are also on other platforms
suge
>>12715092>Sega CD-tier console in the time that was all about 3D>barely any games, the library is mostly VNs which barely qualify as actual games
>>12715180>look at what our new powerful 32-bit processor can do>display anime stills and err....
>>12715234dekine, read the ad
Because most of the library is anime shit, and unlike PC-98, it doesn't have sharp pixel art that people will gush over instead of actually talking about the games.
What a waste of hardware
>>12715092The games I've played on it are unimpressive at best which is probably one of the reasons. Them being mostly in Japanese is the other.Kishin Douji Zenki FX sits between an SNES and PSX beat-em-up with extra anime cutscenes and is one of the better games I've played on it which is exclusive. The other servicable game is Mahjong Gokuu Tenjiku which is a port anyway and just a decent mahjong game which isn't a draw for most.I recently played my first "RPG" on it (Makeruna! Makendou Z) which was very simplified and linear with little in the way of exploration outside of some skills and small scenes. I'd almost describe it as an OVA with RPG elements.
Picrel, for when you run out of anime porn games to play on your PC-98.
>>12715092The only reason to talk anbout the PC-FX is to revel in how fucking bad it was. Obviously, it can’t do polygons in the era of 3D, so that’s a bummer. But its 2D capabilities are also pathetic for the time. Sprites have the same limitations as the failed SuperGrafx from 5 years prior; 128 16x16 sprites, with no more than 16 sprites per scanline. Also, sprite colors are limited to the same restrictions as the PC Engine (each sprite can be a maximum of 15 colors from that console’s 512 color palette). These sprites can’t be scaled or rotated. The mediocre Virtual Boy CPU doesn’t help matters. In short, its 2D capabilities are way worse than either the Saturn or PSX.This would’ve been forgivable if it was released as a budget console. But no, it was released at the same time as Saturn and PSX in Japan at a higher price. The only somewhat positive thing that can be said about it is that anime FMVs are slightly higher quality than what you’d typically see on Saturn and PSX. Theres also a bit more freedom with how you can implement FMVs during gameplay. Genuinely mindboggling this thing was released in such a state.
>>12715092Why does it not have games?
>>12715092If you know jap then it's fun. Shame there isn't much there though
>>12715092So when will Final Doom (PS1) port to PC-FX?
