I've been revisiting the game again recently, and I hate how my first experience of the game was ruined by the dogshit translation work.It's so fucking bad. It's not just the translation, it's the fucking voice cast. Holy shit, why is Emma voiced by Hale (Naomi from MGS1)? It's like at the halfway mark someone figured out that the original design for MGS2 was to reuse voices for important reasons, and then just went "shit, well we already cast everyone, so I guess we'll just do it with Emma instead?".They completely fucked the whole Olga and Solidus shit, which you can maybe forgive first because MGS1's accents kneecapped them here because they couldn't get Meryl for Olga after a whole game's worth of regional accents, and Solidus can be forgiven because Hayter has zero range and can't really be expected to voice 2 whole characters in the same game. I wonder if MGS2's butchery influenced the decision to cut the accents from TTS. I know they took the opportunity to "improve" the cutscene translation work.And the worst offender is Raiden's dogshit "fresh from the anime circuit" VA work. That alone would've ruined the whole game, but when you factor in everything else you wind up with a level of butchery that hasn't been seen prior, and will probably never be seen again. And fucking Rose, too. The ONE good VA in the entire English version of the game is Fortune.

>>12715427You can only say this because you haven't played the original. MGS1 has a fairly good English dub. MGS3 is an accurate dub (this is different to an accurate translation), although it's let down by Hayter. MGS2 is fucking awful. The voice direction is completely wrong.
