Nice psychological horror, don't know what crack they were smoking with the Saturn version.

Space Griffon VF9 is like Resident Evil as a 90s mecha OVA. Spooky moonbase instead of a spooky mansion, big corporation doing illegal experiments. A virus gets out and zombifies everyone, the bio-weapon organisms they were growing broke out of containment. Contact is lost, your team of mech commandos goes in to investigate, things rapidly go south. It came out in 1995 and is a remake of an even earlier PC-98 game. It also got a second Dreamcast remake.

Uninvited on the NES is the first horror game I remember playing.

It was originally a Mac game, and it was like, ok there (not awful, but far from great, just passable), but the Genesis port and 3DO ports are somehow a lot worse.

To date, this is one of the only horror games I truly like, and its sequels and Haunting Ground. I don't like when the horror comes from resource scarcity.

Yeah I wouldn't call it an all time classic or anything but it's a neat little game. There are a TON of radio calls with your teammates and they'll comment on pretty much every new plot element you encounter or give you pointers if you're lost. You can even try to call up your dead buddies and I think the player character will say different things about them depending on when you try.

This holds up so well. Aside from the platforming in the late game, can't think of any notable flaw it has. Puzzles aren't braindead nor obtuse except for maybe one or two, atmosphere is superb, classical music for the soundtrack works great. Probably as close as you could get to a flawless execution of its concept given the technology of the era. Shame the sequels sucked so bad.
