so... what is the best shader /vr/?
>>
Whichever looks closest to the TV you grew up with

NONE
Keep it nice and tidy
>>
>>12716048
Ehh six to one, they're all complete crap.
>>
>/vr/ - Retro Games
I don't see anything retro going on in this thread
>>
>>12716048
KOKO-AIO if you're at 4K resolution.
>>
It depends on your monitor, needs and preferences. In 100% of the cases you'll have to tweak the settings to improve the image as there's no 'one-size fits all' shader. If you can't tell what looks "good" then you shouldn't use them, doubly so if you lack knowledge about CRT technicalities. Royale is outdated.
>>
>>12717218
simulation of retro display devices, anon, or do you play emulated vector games without shaders?
>>
>>12716048
ntsc-320px-composite or ntsc-256px-composite for tendies with bilinear filtering
simulating a CRT display is retarded
>>
>>12716048
None, I prefer raw pixels.

I usually just stick to CRT Guest Advanced with a couple of minor tweaks it looks good enough to me

>>12716048
None, shaders are an abomination.
>>
>>12716048
There is no "best" shader. Different platforms had different looks to them, and you'd use different shaders to simulate that look. It also depends on what your monitor hardware is.
>>
>>12717229
nta but personally i like the look of raw pixels. its just niche instances that throws me off like dracula's eyes and mouth or the candles in symphony of the night.

>>12716048
None. I want to see the truth, not obscure it and pretend I'm a child.
>>
>>12717443
Raw pixels are not the truth. You're the one who is being stubborn because you don't like the idea that you were playing the wrong way for years.
>>
>>12717397
eh, that's fine, for raster games I do it on a game by game basis
I was just objecting about CRT shaders not being /vr/
>>
Do shaders increase input lag?
>>
>>12716048
I think it would be a good idea for anons to post here the perfect presets for each platform, including the n64 since it is obvious that mupen64plus will never receive vulkan support and is stuck with glsp lottes.
>>
>>12717735
Nope, set input to early.
>>
>>12717225
On a chinkheld or phone they look nice due to the screen size.
>>

crt-royale is clearly superior to almost all shaders because it's the most realistic crt experience you can have (aside from an actual crt). The truth is that it depends on what is nostalgic for you since not all crt tvs had the exact same look. For some people a certain shader might feel more cozy due to their childhood tvs.

In my non-expert opinion though, the best are dot.glsl (for handhelds) and crt-easymode.glsl (for everything else, arcade games as well). These two shaders ALWAYS look decent for anything that you choose, and these are my default shaders depending for handheld/console games. I will sometimes boot up a PS1 game and choose a different shader depending on the artstyle, but you cannot go wrong with these two. Go try them out; you won't be disappointed. Come back here and post results.

i actually don't remember what things looked like on my old TV.

I like Mega Bezel. Search for "Duimon Mega Bezel" to get lots of cool presets for it.

How many borders do you want on your game, senpai?

bilinear + kawase glow for everything. EVERYTHING
>>
>>12718241
Mega Bezel is super bloated and very resource intensive. Try using koko-aio.
