This could have been bigger than Mario if Nintendo actually believed in it and didn't sabotage the franchise.

Eh it's not that fun compared to Mario

MIYAMOTO BURIED IT.

>"Donkey Kong Country sucks ass. One Unit 731 wasn't enough." —Miyamoto
Shitposting aside, I don't understand what OP is trying to say. Nintendo allowed Rare to create four Donkey Kong games and one spin-off. I'd say Nintendo believes in them.

>if Nintendo actually believed in it

its sold like crazy and became a pre-packaged game with the SNES replacing SMW.

>2 sequels
>successful gameboy trilogy
>saturday morning cartoon
>GBC remake
>GBA remake
>DK64 having one of the biggest promotional runs ever
>forced to bring the franchise back, due to popular demand for the Wii
>TF being one of the biggest sellers on WiiU and Switch

Lol what, i went to fucking Super Nintendo World last month and was impressed that DK had his own chunk of the park titled "Donkey Kong Country" and the ride was based on the SNES level "Mine Cart Madness". I was also equally impressed how shit Epic island was, and how fucking annoying harry potter fans are.

>some stupid miyamoto quote
dude was really trying to make something innovative with Yoshi's Island. Rather than the typical japanese simplicity philosophy like shit for NES Megaman or Ghost n' Goblins. Where u keep the combat and controls very simple. Shiggy was really getting busy with all the mechanics in Yoshi's Island, from trajectory egg throwing, to flutter jumping, and complex levels with crayola coloring book aesthetics.

So seeing some brits using his creation in new pre-rendered graphics and what seemed to him like they were just copying his homework. It would be kinda infuriating.

I would say Rare sabotaged it, but we'll never know why. Personally, I enjoyed DKC3 with its music and everything and have been able to 100% it since I was 9. But I don't know why they made it so relatively difficult after DKC2.

The problem isn’t that they made it harder, they just made it weirder and had a lot of bad new mechanics. Every level has some hairbrained gimmick and the overworld contributes nothing.

Would have never happened. This particular game was fun, but nobody really wants to play as a monkey.

Then why is San Andreas one of the best selling games of all time?
>>
>>12717802
You could have said Ape Escape or something but you picked a completely random game instead.

There's no effort in this shitposting angle, this trash is just boring. Get out OP, you ran out of ideas.
