Recently got a cool crt tv but I only have a ps2 and wii to use it with natively. But wii controller kinda sucks and I don't know how good ps2 retro emulation is.
I know retroarch can display 240p but I don't know how easy it is to get a new pc or console to connect to a crt.

iirc you can use a gamecube controller (or some other controller) on the Wii (I'm not 100% sure about that though).
>>
Yes, but the Wii will have a much better and real 240p video signal.
Get a PS2 to Wii controller converter, much easier solution for you.

Most Wii's support gamecube controllers but towards the end of the systems lifespan Nintendo removed the gamecube controller ports.

I love my GC controller but it feels weird on SNES games because of the layout. I was playing Super Mario RPG with it and it was just awkward, the B and Y button being so far appart on GC makes some actions feel really bad. I also prefer a dpad for 2D games, but the real problem was the layout mismatch.
Even wiimote + nunchuck feels very off for snes.
On N64, GC controller is ok but I think virtual console N64 outputs 480i instead of 240p. And n64 emulators on wii are hit or miss for some games.

You can but it'll look like donkey dick. The lowest res the switch can output is widescreen 480p.

Damn...
What about connecting a laptop with retroarch instead? I remember seeing a 240p option that said only worked when connected to a real CRT.

CRTemudriver exists but it's a real rabbit hole. You're best off getting a different controller/adapter for your wii.

Yeah, I guess I'll look for a wii classic controller or a snes mini controller.

The Pro controllers are good, and you can even plug in the NES Mini and SNES Mini controllers into a Wiimote as well.

You don't need PS2 emulation at all. Just mod a compatible PS2 with freemcboot and load up a harddrive with tons of roms. Super easy and affordable to do, you just need a few parts, like memory card loaded with the hacks, sata hard drive adapter and a mechanical or sata ssd harddrive. Youtube a guide or AI will tell you every step. Costs like $50 in total.

It's even easier with Wii. You can load it up with both gamecube and wii roms. Again just look it up. I wouldn't bother with crt emudriver, it's a pain in the ass unless you have autism and enjoy tinkering with settings just cause. Even when perfected it's completely inferior to original hardware or using something like a pi or mister. It can be good for watching 480p torrents or self rips on tv though.
