Because you’re 10% right … I certainly don’t play the genre anywhere near as seriously/intentionally as the chain smoking Asians who dominate scoreboards for those classics. I just enjoy pretty shmups. The genre is a pallete cleanser for me, so I love stuff that is really eye pleasing, with great OST’s, but don’t play them for their insane challenge, like most who play cave shmups who are super hardcore competitive about shmups.

The only one I really played as a kid was Aero Fighters on SNES and I liked it.Tried some on emulators later on and didn't really like any, but I prob tried some shitty ones without knowing.
