Just use save states bro
>>

gay fake troll thread. the first level is standard breezy stage 1 fare. it's an easy crowd pleaser meant to give every possible player a bit of fun.
>>
>>12720530
It’s all memorization

I got over half way through. The end bosses are actually difficult for this maybe more than nes contra
>>
>>12720530

I only reached to the stage 4, and after many tries i gave up and never played any other contra game anymore.

Not a troll >_< Should I even bother with the rest of the game then
>>

You should if you want to and you shouldn't if you don't want to. It is a good game but a person can survive without having played it. If you don't continue playing, listen to the whole game's soundtrack on YouTube because the best music is in some later stages.

This game is fucking easy...can zoomers not play these kinds of games? JESUS Christ...

>Can people who grew up on cover-based corridor shooters not play 2D run n' guns?
Why do you oldies pretend to not understand that if you didn't grow up on a certain style it becomes much harder to adapt to?
Try learning Japanese at the age you're currently at. Oh, what's that? The guy who spoke Japanese since birth is better at it than you? No way!

Your defeatist attitude is why your generation is killing themselves in record numbers

Don't change the subject. You seemed shocked at how us zooms can't adapt to older games, I simply pointed out why. Idk about OP but I have a positive attitude about beating old games and I always go in with an open mind.

Goddamn...your generation really is, as you say, "cooked"

Grim.

I have doubts about how applicable this idea is in this context. Contra games are very simple and anybody can learn how they work very quickly. The ability to easily and naturally control the player character in them is not, I suspect, nearly different enough from the ability needed to play just about any other kind of real-time action game to be something a person would need to automatically learn as a kid the way languages are learned, SEPARATELY from how one might have automatically learned to play Fortnite or whatever the hell. That is, I would guess that if you learned one then you effectively learned the most important aspects of the other, whether you've played both games or not.

It requires quick reflexes and memorization. I was able to beat this on easy mode no problem, and could beat it on hard mode after a few days of practice back in the day. But I picked it up recently after not playing it for years, and now being a 40+ unc, and it wrecked my shit. I made it to the third stage and died.
>>
>>12720530
That's contra 3 for ya. It's a fun game but it's practically 100% memorization of each stage. You will die a ton, but you'll git gud eventually. The stages are short so it won't take too long to learn each as they come. It's one of those games that feel amazing when you finally learn it all so the payoff is definitely there.

After grinding a few older games in my old age and doing better than expected, I've come to the realization that it's less about getting older and more that I just had a lot more time to learn games when I was younger. I'm old as hell but every time I've committed to playing one of these "hard" retro vidyas, I end up doing as good or better than 10 year old me did but in a shorter amount of time.
>>
>>12726585
Good for you. I've given up on a few games. Basically any game that relies on shooting, but has to have you fire each shot with the press of a button instead of holding it down. Mega Man X and Metroid Prime 2 are prime examples.

Ironically on Hard it's one of the most difficult parts of the game

This ain't Hard Corps chief. Contra 3 has a lot of randomness
>>
>>12728389
Hard Corps is wayyyyyyy easier than Alien Wars

bump

I liked them.

>>12728384
hard has stupid cheesy bullet speed so it's not really comparable.
