What browser MMO's did you play as a kid? For me, it's Alien Adoption Agency.

Club Penguin but I doubt that counts as /vr/

It actually does

I played Kingdom of Loathing for like a day. I always wanted to try that official Zork one that existed since i always thought an rpg set in that setting would be neat.

Runescape
This was my greatest mistake
>>
I played pokemon crater in my afterschool program every day as a kid.

"Browsers" didn't exist when I was a kid.

We connected to BBSes on our dialup modems and played "door games". They were pretty awesome, even when they were simple. Asynchronous online play is underrated.

Telnet:whitesands.net:4000

The place I'll return to someday ;_; (sad flutes)
>>
I played Urban Dead and similar ones like Shartak, Quarantine 2019, Nexus Clash, Shintolin etc
UD closed recently and the others have only about 100-400 players. Many of those characters are alts so real player numbers are smaller. There are rules to keep alts apart and not help each other, but still feels immersion breaking to know there's so many alts.
Most of these games are either dead, dying or (imo) got ruined by updates.

i hated it. got PVP to death. but i was already 18 when i found out about it?

Only Runescape and I didn't really play it. Mostly just an electronic place to hang out with this girl I met on Yahoo Messenger chat rooms in like 2003. (It was the "Xtreme Sports" chat room because that was were all the cook sk8ter kids like us were.) We just did the mutual follow thing that made it look like we were dancing while chatting.

Dofus was/is technically a browser MMO since it's Flash. The tutorial area was available on some Flash game website for a while and the installer version could be played in any Flash-capable browser.

Also TPPCRPG if that counts.

Good times.

Idr what it was called, but it was 20 years ago. You basically raided other people's castles with an army using whatever weapons you buy. You can buy defensive weapons to counter raids. I remember that anyone who made the mistake of revealing which specific weapons they had on the website's chatroom could find that someone sabotaged them all and then get raided.
But idr what the game/site was called.

played a shit ton of both kingdom of loathing and neopets back in the day.

i forgot my neopets password and the email service i used as a teenager before gmail became a thing went offline, so it is literally irretrievable.

i also played a bunch of MUDs, i browser interfaces for those count.
