Which of the 3 is your favorite marpig branch?

M&L > SMRPG >>>>>>>>>> PM
>>
Id have to go with m&l simply due to the fact that it has the most good games though i do like paper mario more.
>>
>>12724120
SMRPG remake brutally mogs anything else RPG related with Mario in the title.
>>
The brothers. I love the racist Italian mumbling.
>>
>>12724123
This. There's almost no reason to bother with the other Mario RPGs, this was already the best one and will never be topped.
>>
>>12723885
Mario and Luigi by far. Not my favorite games by any means but I can at least play them for a bit without being bored to tears.
>>
>>12724123
I enjoyed the remake, but a lot of the new features didn't feel like the rest of the game were particularly designed with them in mind, outside of the new post game battles. Makes me hope they make an entirely new SMRPG to take full advantage of the new mechanics for the whole game.
As for OP, probably SMRPG, then M&L, then Paper Mario.
>>
>>12723885
Paper Mario, it was simply there for me when I needed it most.
>>
Thousand Year Door and SMRPG are basically tied, on my recent playthroughs I'd probably put SMRPG a hair above it. N64 PM is good but not as memorable for me as the previously mentioned ones. I still have never played any of the Mario & Luigi games, I always kind of forget they exist.

pm captures the feel of what I think mario is better than the rest

Oh, wait, you said remake. Pardon my mistake, please allow me to kill myself with a sword now that I may atone for my misunderstanding.

Well OG is great and the remake just added some cool stuff like trio attacks.

SMRPG>SS>PM

SMRPG is my favorite game of all time. Only flaw is that it's too easy, and maybe it coulda had more hidden bosses, but that's sorta minor. I wish someone could hack the Remake postgame stuff into the original, that'd be cool.

SS is very good, I love it, but having to swap and do Bros moves gets a bit annoying mid-lategame. Sequels are pretty solid too as far as I've played.

I should theoretically love Paper Mario, but something just feels off about it. Maybe I never cared much for the Paper gimmick? Or maybe the music/sound doesn't do it for me (for 1, at least). Idk.
I do like how 1 feels more grounded as a Mario game, but I do like the more odd characters and scenarios in the sequels.
I'm sorry, but I wish we just got RPG2 instead.

you get it.

Indeed, it captured the overall feel and easy going nature of what the mushroom kingdom was from a nintendo perspective. It really set in the mythos and established the kingdom as a lived in world as opposed to the main series.

SMRPG was an interesting and unique take by the masterminds at square; and members of the same team worked on M&L RPG.

used to just idle here as a kid and soak in the feeling

64 > TTYD > SMRPG

Never finished M&L but it seemed kinda gay

RPG>TTTYD>PM>>M&L SS

It's been like 15 years since I played it and I don't remember much, but I could not get into Superstar Saga. I found it kind of clunky and unintuitive to play have to constantly swap between bros, but I also played it on an emulator with an X360 so maybe my experience would have been different on a handheld.
>>
>>12726721
Has the latest release finally managed to emulate this effect?
>>
Remember those few Mario sports games that incorporated RPG elements?
>>
>>12723885
RPG but I was never a huge fan of the OG Paper Mario. I need to give M&L another try someday,
>>
>>12723885
paper mario's badge system really elevates the experience when you're looking at replaying the games to me. smrpg is legendary for the time and the bros games are fine, but paper mario is just cozy to me.
>>
Paper Mario is the most enjoyable while the original Mario RPG is also very good ts also somewhat bizarre its as if Mario existed in a Final Fantasy world Mario works best as a JRPG
>>
>>12723885
Paper Mario is the best, then RPG, then Superstar Saga.

RPG is just too easy to fully enjoy as an adult and SS is super tedious and the charm struggles to keep up with the weird game design choices.
>>
>>12729310
Mario RPG is a masterpiece its like playing a Final Fantasy game with Mario skins it has that Final Fantasy feel Mario & Luigi is more for kids and Paper Mario is good but i only like it for its graphics and paper themed atmosphere
>>
>>12729318
>Mario RPG is a masterpiece
If by "masterpiece" you mean journobait walking sim for retards, then yes
>>
>>12723885
SMRPG is barely a branch, Paper Mario has two games I love and I've only played Super Paper Mario after that (it was pretty fun but more forgettable). So I guess M&L wins by default.

As far as the games themselves:
SMRPG > PM >= PM2 > M&L > the rest
