How bad is it? It may be a piece of shit but it looks kind of... different. Almost tempted to try it

What's stopping you?

>hey guys how bad is this legendarily bad kusoge?
Fuck off

i kind of enjoyed the N64 version. i liked it better than goldeneye anyway

It's a 5/10 FPS at its core, but they got overly ambitious with their scripted shit and AI NPC companions so you will constantly be fighting bugs and stupid oversights that lead to hundreds of very unfair deaths when your compansions alternate between getting stuck and refusing to progress and charging right into heavy gunfire.
There are fan patches to help alleviate some of it but not nearly enough to make it a pleasant experience.

Play it on the n64 since it doesn't suffer from the same companion ai problems the pc release does.
Also be prepared to spend hours feeling terrible playing the game. The controlls are ass. Eventually your brain clicks with the weird ass control scheme and you start having a great time, but until that point it's miserable.

I think you can turn them off altogether in current versions
>>
Try playing it, OP.
>>
I heard something a few months ago that apparently like one line needs to be changed in the companion's coding and that fixes major issues turning it into a decent game.
>>
>Daikatana is actually a great game!...... just mod it to take out the AI companions, or make them immortal, or make it so that you can abandon them, and patch all the game-breaking bugs!

Yes if you change everything about a shitty game so that it isn't as bad, it's a little better. Good for you guys, but stop fucking pretending it applies to the actual game. It's sourceports and mods.

It's playable with the fan patches. If you're gonna play with sidekicks be sure to turn on God mode for them to save yourself the frustration. The first episode is kind of shit but the later levels are surprisingly decent.

I would not bother with the N64 version. It's got dumbed down level design and you can't customize the controls very much. The GameBoy Color version is a pretty good Zelda clone though.
>>
>>12726390
First level is actually good, second level is when they start escort missions with suicidal NPCs that instagib when an elevator glitches
>>
>>12726404
>legendarily bad
I often find that these games aren't anywhere near as bad as the hyperbole people use suggests so it's reasonable for OP to ask.
>>
>>12726448
So the same thing as Jurassic Park Trespasser; bit off more than they could chew?
>>
Only tried to play the first level and there are tiny flying monsters that are the same color as the background, already the fact that they are so small made them hard to target, then add on top of that they blended with the other textures and I just died a bunch of times without even knowing wtf was happening... I felt like nobody even bothered to play-test the thing
