How was anyone supposed to beat this game without a guide?
>>
>>12726937
Kids told each other where to find the hidden maze entrances.
>>
>>12726937
People used to try things instead of getting mad because they don't know what to do next.

I understand this complaint for a lot of games, but I never understood it for Zelda. The game is open ended, but unless you are completely devoid of critical thinking, there's never any point where you'll have exhausted every possible idea on what you're supposed to do and end up stuck. There's always some part of the map you've yet to fully explore, or some item you've yet to figure out the use for. How big a game is has nothing to do with how likely you'll be to need a guide for it. A game is as cryptic as its most cryptic puzzle, and Zelda doesn't have anything cryptic in it. (At least nothing required for progression, anyway. It took 20 years for people to finally figure out what "10th enemy has the bomb" means).

Read the manual bro
>>
You just poked around and figured stuff out, that was the fun of it. You shouldn't look at beating a game like a checklist. It was a puzzle you had to solve.
>>
>>12726937
How could you not? It's not that tricky
>>
>>12726937
Just bomb every wall and burn every bush on every screen. How many screens are there on the map anyway? Like 80 max.
>>
>>12726948
And lots of kids gave up after trying to burn random shrubs for hours and played other games instead
>>
>>12727047
The overworld is 16 screens wide and 8 screens tall, so there's 128 screens.

You are only required to burn one bush, and I mean... it's not exactly subtle.
>>
>>12727053
Plus the mazes, though you only have to bomb every wall in those.
>>
>>12726937
You play something other than nintendie shit
>>
>>12727059
>try burning that very bush
>you were off-center by 1 pixel
>it doesn't burn
>proceed to try burning every other bush in the game
>>
>>12726937
what game?
>>
>>12727062
Lol what a faggot. Go play some cocky doody instead, you're hopeless.
>>
>>12727075
what's cocky doody
>>
People back then didn't have internet and other distractions so they spend thousands of hours on each game they had.
>>
>>12726937
It's an old adventure games. Adventure games in general were built different back in the day. You were intended to bash your head against a wall for weeks on end as you slowly uncover everything about the game.
But also it came packaged with the map and a lot of tips in the manual. Outside of a few pieces of moon logic, most of the game can realistically be figured out by what the game provides.
>>
Ah I see OP woke up this morning and after sucking down his regular breakfast of cum and cocks decided to revive /retard/ general.

The sad part is there are actually zoomers who believe this shit now.
>>
>>12727062
Not even true, cumlover. The flame hitbox just needs to barely touch the one hiding the secret.
>>
>>12726937
Childhood wonder and 1980s boredom.
>>
>>12726937
Brute forcing.
>>
>>12727278
Boredom is one hell of a drug. Zoomies nowadays can't even focus on modern games anymore without watching a stream on a second monitor or doomscrolling on their phones.
But that's not how it was back then. You faced games head on if you were at home so that's where all your focus would go to. Either this or go play outside. Zoomers don't even go outside anymore.
>>
>>12726937
guides were sold and gaming magazines included monthly guides as well
>>

It's not Tower of Druaga. Play more than three different IPs, baby.
