Why has there always been a rivalry between Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy 7 they are games of different genres Final Fantasy was born on Nintendo many important games in that franchise came out on Nintendo so why is there a kind of rivalry between these two games? is it because they came out on different consoles many even say that Cloud is very similar to Link there is even a tombstone referencing Link in Final Fantasy 1

>>12729226There wasn't a rivalry until the N64 kiddies got on the internet in the 2000s. At the time, there wasn't much competition. FF7 was one of the biggest, most hyped and talked-about games that had ever been published. Ocarina came out almost 2 years later, after the FF7 hype had died down. People outside the N64 bubble barely even noticed Ocarina at release. A ton of other great games were released in 1998-1999. (OoT was late Q4 of 98).
