It's pretty good. I think I prefer it to Serious Sam. I like the chunky enemy models and how they ragdoll when you kill them. I thought it was boring the first time I played it, but this time I cranked up the difficulty and it's much better. The first level is still a snoozefest though and some of the challenges to get the tarot cards are tedious. The cards themselves are unnecessary unless you're playing on the hardest difficulty and seem more like a gimmick than anything substantial.

The first expansion is decent but everything else sucks

Great game indeed, the atmosphere and gore was unmatched at the time. I remember shitting my pants in the orphanage. Sadly none of the spinoffs / followups except for the first addon battle out of hell were good

I remember wasting a week of my summer holidays playing PK: Overdose and being amazed at how bad it was. The constant shitty quips were driving me mad.
It was also the best of the later shitty spinoffs which is depressing

When I got my new monitor and gpu this was the first game I played through because it plays at crazy high fps. 5070/360 hz pulsar monitor. It moves so smooth.

I liked it. It had decent music and I still hear it being used in various things sometimes. The weapons were good. I think it would've been better if you didn't have to pick up souls from every enemy though which got tedious, and if the levels were more open instead of gated arenas with respawning enemies. The gameplay itself was fast enough but the overall game pace felt slow.

I remember being amazed at how fucking tight the hitboxes are. You could fire a stake in between their legs or under their arms.
Wasn't necessarily a good thing though, too many times have I fired a rocket into a crowd only for it to harmlessly fly past them all lmao

The bosses are visually interesting but mechanically shallow, and the same can be said of the entire game. The game has some wilds and checkpoints, but it's way inferior to SS, which is exactly what people criticize SS for being.

People criticise SS for being inferior to SS?

They mean the things people criticize SS for also apply to Painkiller and that they also think Painkiller is even worse in that regard.
