You know what I mean. Games that don't feel like. Like you would think by looking at them they're just some made-up joke, but no, somehow they're real.Like this N64 collectathon based on Blues Brothers 2000.
narc arcade feels like a fake game made for the robocop movie
>>12743109For me is how the game overall keeps themself grounded and then the final boss is a giant worm.
>>12743101This one really made me question reality for a moment when I first ran across it
>>12743101Bio Force Ape is a classic example of thisTechnically it never released officially but it was created in all of it's bizarre glory
I remember thinking that Eastern Mind was just an elaborate shitpost someone made to make fun of how "weird and quirky" Japanese people are. Turns out it was made by the same artist as LSD dream emulator.
>>12743129Wasn't this specific cutscene you posted made-up tho?
unironically looks like something that would've been the focal point of an episode
>>12743101Gilligan's Island for sure. That tv series was already considered old even in the 80's
>>12743101
>>12743101Shaq Fu basically has to be greatest ever in this regard right?
>>12743170Why this isn't a basketball game is beyond me. Was Shaq a fan of Street Fighter or something?
It's not that weird. The movie came out. I think Titus still had the license from when they made the previous Blues Brothers game. It was very much a cranked out fast kind of game (it's Titus).Actually not that bad of a game, for what it's worth. If for some reason you're tired of playing Mario 64, Banjo, Rayman 2, Bomberman Hero and so forth. It's there. It exists. I did used to play this game as a kid.
>>12743170close but no cigar
>>12743156>>12743157Honestly I wouldn't mind more games based on sitcoms. Did Alf get one? I feel like it should.
>>12743190>Did Alf get one?yep
>>12743156REAL MEN DON"T NEED INSTRUCTIONS
>>12743192Is it good?
>>12743189Don't forget this one either. 1990's NBA sure had some weird spinoff games.
>>12743209uuuuuhhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ruBuzQ2yuI
>>12743165I don't follow, it's just an original IP with a zany idea about robot animals. The humour is entirely British and vibes with British kids shows, too.
>>12743101>An arcade shooter where the players play as Michael Jackson shooting kamehamehas at everything>The other players are Michael Jackson palette swaps >Micheal turns into a mecha if he touches Bubbles the chimp>You get points for touching kids and every level ends with the kids you saved running towards Micheal as he pulls open his jacketThis one definitely has that parody feel.>>12743156What is even weirder is that the first couple levels are Tim fighting dinosaurs with his tools. That makes it seem even more like a Simpsons joke about licensed games.
>>12743284nah, that's just Michael Jackson. I'm pretty sure he told them what he wanted.
>>12743147when i first played that game one of the first things i did was accidentally gain immortality which is apparently the only way to lose.
>>12743183this was around the time of his rap career and the height of wu tang's popularity
>>12743112You're thinking of Growl. NARC final boss is a giant head.
>>12743170>>12743189>>12743284I dig the concept of games about real life celebrities getting into some fantastical stuff. Like not celebrities portraying some fictional characters, just them being themself in games. Any more games like this?
>>12743295Sure but it is pretty played up and the kid stuff is funny in retrospect. Fun game though.>>12743523There are some decent Jackie Chan games where he is just Jackie Chan kicking ass.
>>12743586
>>12743523Revolution X? Journey Escape is probably too abstract for what you're looking for.
>>12743737I forgot about Journey, the arcade game
>>12743101as opposed to what? grown on trees?all games are fabricated
>>12743114It's a very questionable game with some high pedigree (top notch japanese casting and Hiroshi Motomiya's designs). It's not good, but it's still funny.
I still can’t believe there was a whole console named after them
I still struggle to believe this is real. I could understand if it was a side scroller of the same name like those Gameboy versions of FPS games, but this tries to be "3D".
>>12743101>Blues Brothers 2000.the movie was one big unfunny joke
>>12743217Well yeah you're a foreigner. Of course you like it. You people have bad taste.
>>12743820play DN 1 and 2. Duke was originally a platform shooter game.
>>12743820Found some info on the Duke Nukem wiki and it seems like the legality on this backport is fucking wack, and it's like a "he said, she said it's 5% Official, but probably not really, but who cares lel Brazil" kinda thing.Funny regardless.
>>12743503Whose idea even was this anyway?
>>12744179I don't know, the game is already wack with the crazy premise and ultra violent main characters. I love it.
>>12743101zombies ate my neighbors is so extremely on the nose in the way games typically aren't. there's usually some odd wrinkle or omission that separates a game from a generic public domain idea but zombies is that to a tee. rad suburban kids fighting the gamut of b movie classic horror monsters with childhood toys.
>let's make music generation software that runs on the ps1 using a controller as an input device, and also has no way of saving the music you generate
>>12744272But you can save them. It will take the entire memory card by the way.
>>12744275But you can't do anything with it. You can take them over to a friend's house who also has a copy of the music generation software and play them on it, but you can never actually save the music you generate with the music generation software. Its like if someone made tax filing software for the ps1 and all you could do was save it to your memory card as if that would accomplish anything
>>12744281You can plug it into the VCR and record it on video
>>12744218It was designed for the American market because they saw beat 'em ups and multiplayer games were doing well there- the whole animal thing wasn't added in until later. Hiroshi Tsujino aka Onijust had just gone over to Taito of America and he was the one in charge of coordinating everything. They talked about it on Hamster's stream when they released it as part of Arcade Archives, and they showed a bunch of development stuff as they usually do.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1pvpBVtrRg
>>12743157That and Three Stooges NES, pretty crazy
>>12743586Amazing how I can't even think of what type of game it's based on the cover alone. All I can guess is that it seems to be based on some Spanish comedian or comedic movie.
>>12743101Wayne's World on the NES had to have been a money laundering scheme.>>12743820>There's a DN3D port on the Genesis >It's barely a Wolfenstein clone
Just an odd brand to put on a video game. Especial since it's not full-on pornographic game. From the little I know about it, it funnily does feel like an attempt to sell Sims to male demographic because of the similar gameplay but with added quests and spicier sex scenes.
>>12743101Cho Aniki
>>12743157It ran in heavy syndication in the late 80s and regained enough popularity that the original actors did some TV interviews and other stuff around then. I was a big fan even though I was really young. 1990 sounds about right for that game to come out and capitalize on the renewed interest.
>>12743189This game had a promotion with Upper Deck (trading card company) that put a cardboard sheet ad in game magazines with a cut-out Jordan card that you couldn't get anywhere else. They sell for a decent price on ebay if you have one in good condition.
>>12743189I actually thought this was kind of decent for a licensed platformer. It's not like that's a high bar, but I enjoyed it.
Sometimes I'll play a shitty game and it looks like a background gag for a sitcom
>>12744643I had the pc version of this, it was very boring, you just managed the playboy mansion.
>>12743157The nes was a weird era for licensed games, Fester's Quest was based on the old sitcom and not the 90s Addams Family movie, Jaws, there was three stooges as someone else mentioned. None of these felt of the time.
>>12744390>Yeah let's port this ancient amiga/NES game to PS1 with slightly updated graphicsImagine if your parents bought you this
https://youtu.be/ZhyK8yCcjBU
>>12745152The GBA port got a modern re-release a few years back, too. For some reason, this game refuses to die.
>>12743523As (>>12743584) said Jackie Chan got a couple, mostly based on his films, but titles where he's himself? I recall the arcade Jackie Chan: Kung Fu Master - Fists of Fire and the PS1 title Jackie Chan: Stuntmaster and they're both an excellent time.
>>12743737It was literally T2: The Arcade Game with the Terminator license swapped out for Aerosmith.
A racing game based on Russian urban fantasy series of all things. I don't know if racing is even a big thing in these books.
>>12746442apparently it's based on the movie which is a loose adaptation of the book
>>12746451
Of all older series to make an attempt to jump into 3d, Pong has to be the oddest one.
>>12746453that game is actually good though
>>12746453Atari was pushing for some revivals at the time, the same devs did a Breakout one too. Pong was good, but damn it was tough as hell.
>>12746462I had the Q*bert one as a kid.
>>12744272This was called Music 2000 in Europe. I didn't have it but I "played" a ton of its predecessor simply called Music which was EU exclusive. It was technically my first experience with a DAW and it was just cool to be able to MAKE MUSIC on my PS1 as a dumb ass kid, especially with the daft video effects.I still have recordings of a couple of the tracks I made with it way back when kicking about.
>>12746485I had Centipede. Cool intro but truth be told, I've never got much further beyond the first level.https://youtu.be/z3U9-T_8Y8o?is=MsEAzuIipVU0Q6ZY
>>12743109It really does have that feel to it
>>12746494I recorded many music on Audio Tape (K7) because i can plug my PS1's composite sound (red and white) on my audio set.
>>12743114i thought it was based on manga
>>12743523The plot of this game is that Mary Kate and Ashley buy a cursed necklace from a mall kiosk that breaks space-time and traps them in the mall for all eternity, so they have to do mall stuff to collect gems or else time will be frozen for all eternity.
>>12743586Watch it, cabron
>>12744281>>12744294Play it on an emulator and save state it
>>12743586This is the most 2005 videogame ever.
>>12746453I have this one, me, my cousins and my old father loved playing this 20 years ago.
I know licensed multiplat games were common but>Hello Kitty for the original Xbox
>>12747727more Idoling games would have saved the Xbox
>a British-developed game about time travel called "Time Lord">it isn't an unlicensed Doctor Who game
>>12743114I have just the webm for that. You thought illicit construction vehicle street fighting was made up to sell a video game? Think again!
>>12746593No, but it had a veteran mangaka doing the character designs, Hiroshi Motomiya, of Salaryman Kintaro and the Tenchi wo Kurau series that Capcom made games from.
>>12744179I don't know but he deserves a damn raise.
>>12743586I looked into this one out of curiosity and I am no less confused. It seems like the American equivalent would be if they made a shovelware game about Stuart from Mad TV or something.>>12747727The marketing for the Xbox was so anti-whimsy that it does feel sort of odd seeing a girly game on it.
>>12743101That game's a collectathon?? I always assumed it was either a racing game or a beat em up. I'm gonna get a copy now, thanks OP.
>>12747549something uncanny about those smiles
>>12747549Which still beat being trapped with Dave Coulier.
>>12743156this always feels fake to me, like that frasier meme game
>>12748208Something Something china?
>>12743114I had this game and some crustacean combat game (not that one) around the same time and both were absolutely insane. This one was more of a game but the crab one was just incomprehensible you would just start shooting lasers and you could play as all sorts of different creatures.BCV was really fun and I think they just thought it would be a goofy funny idea.
>>12746496That is an awful font.
>>12749258the thumbnail feels easier to read than the enlarged pic lol
>>12748208FINISH HIM!
>>12743153That's really from the game as far as I know. I've played it but have never got to the end, I think it's only 3 levels but I can't get past the first
>>12747727A free gift!? I just checked it was stickers
Just considering the series as a whole Spec Ops: The Line encompasses what I want to happen to every shitty shovelware series so they have like one good game to be remembered by.
>>12744660Imagine if Aniki was still alive...
>>12749096Elite /vr/ game.
>>12744660kek, i remember seanbaby talking about this game in EGM
>>12749462The world was so good before Cracked
>>12743101This DOS bastardization of Contra was officially licensed by Konami, by the way.
>>12750353The Metal Gear port was absolutely awful too. Same thing with that Mega Man game. Action games used to be completely terrible on PC until stuff like Duke Nukem and Jill of the Jungle came along
This feels like some anon made a Pepe the Frog porno game and dumped it on MAME claiming he got it from some seedy 90s arcade "for the lulz." Even the name of the company seems like a troll.https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ow0vpwUFFOc
>>12749393What's so weird about this game?
>>12749341No it isn't, those images were a hoax
>>12743825This. Any time Rare leaned into britbong 'humour' the results were awful.
>>12754438Pop, Silicon Valley was DMA, not Rare but same thing. The bonglish attempts at satire are the absolute worst recurring aspect of GTA games.
>>12748093>BoxArt makes it look awesome>It's an NES RARE gameIt's sucked hard.
Do PocketBike Racer, Sneak King, and Big Bumpin' for the Xbox count?
>>12745152One day some zoomer e-celeb will do a video on the absurdity of this game that will get millions of views and cause used copies to inflate to ridiculous prices
>>12754501NES-era Rare games were underrated. Especially this 4-player gem:
>>12754502Sure, but not retro
>>12754987Sneak king is literally 20 years oldfucking retard, how is that not retro by this point faggot
>>12755095Felt old as fuck when I saw the upload time of those ads that led to the gamehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCSv4zNkFhw
>>12755095>by this pointThis is your mistake.
>>12755095I mean it probably should, but look at the sticky. The PS2, Xbox etc were added last year.
>>12749887Cracked was fine in its early years, even if it was kinda proto-reddit in tone. Thr SJW stuff came later.
>>12744660I almost feel like these shouldn't count because Cho Aniki is bad on purpose, it's a meme, it utterly embraces being a kusoge and wears it as a badge of honor
>>12755302it's a "bakage". It's a whole recognised catagory of game in Japan. Games designed to be wacky and stupid on purpose.
>>12750353At least that shit has scrolling, try playing the official MSX port.
>>12755095Sneak King came out for the 360, didn't it?
>>12756161This was basically the peak of that genre. Haven't played it in a long time but I remember it basically being the ultimate weird quirky wacky Japanese game
>>12743787ponq
>>12756161Yeah but they're also not particularly great games as shmups
>>12744272A this game and its equal are awesomeB you can save on a memory cardC you can put a microphone jack on your RCA outs and record to tape
>>12744643You can fuck playmates in this game
>>12756290Those BK games are actually all OG Xbox games. They come in 360 style cases but the top just says Xbox
>>12750369bad localisers bad proggers. a common problem today too.
>>12754987read le rules. or go back
>>12751178Not him but I checked it out because I liked these games on the ps1 and it doesn't look or play anything like the others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6odI54rdf8
>>12755115>The PS2, Xbox etc were added last year.holy newfag
>>12760551They actually run on both OG and 360 Xboxes. There are two different versions of the game in each disc.
>>12743101tie-in for a movie released in 1997 and the third last game released for the system and it's surprisingly a fucking banger
>>12763024Also Lost World on GameGear, which i think was last game for it.
>>12750353Honestly looks alright.
>>12763005I always found it funny how those three games were the only ones to do that and i dont think any consoles ever used that idea again of a cross gen disc.
>>12756287>>12763049It is much worse then the footage makes it look. The controls are practically nonfunctional. Even the MSX version is at least playable, unlike this trainwreck. Don't believe me?: https://archive.org/details/msdos_Contra_1988
