(YOU) have 3 more weeks to download everything you want at gog-games before it goes 404. What games will you download? For now, this is my list:
>Settlers 2
>SimCity 2k 3k 4
>Diablo
>Majesty
>Stronghold
>Ys Chronicles
>Populous 3

>Has leftover funds

The original version of Soul Reaver 1 comes to mind. It was delisted years ago with plans to bring it back that were forgotten when the remastered version was released. Also I think some of the older versions of the Doom installers were delisted. And Crysis Wars.

>but it can't actually launch games
Well of course. Most PC gamers are Windows tards that can't into using a terminal. Using the mv command to rename a file is some hackerman shit to 99.9% of Steam users. Therefore, the CLI Steam Client only exists as a novelty play thing, so that Valve can say:
>Woah hey Linux dudes, check this shit out!!!!1!1!
>We got da COMMAND-LINE CLIENT cuz we know you Linux dudes are all 1337 h4x0rs!!!!1!!1!!!
But in reality, it probably receives virtually zero support from Valve's programmers.

Also, it's probably much harder for Valve to collect usage statistics and other telemetry with a client that runs inside a terminal, as opposed to a graphical client that can have more bloatware embedded into it. And Steam collects a fucking lot of data from it's users.
>>
>>12756927
>that can't into using a terminal
My issue with the Steam client isn't that it's a GUI; it's that it's an extremely bloated one. If the Steam CLI client exposed simple commands for launching games or even sending messages, someone could quickly write a super lightweight GUI in Qt that uses 40MiB of memory at most.

Nah, nothing's happened to GoG. This thread isn't about GoG at all. It's about an unrelated website called gog-games. It's a website that you can download games from for free, specifically games from GoG. Instead of spending $1.50 to buy Hitman Blood Money on GoG, you can download it from gog-games and risk getting a crypto coin miner on your PC.

Why the hell would you want to launch games from a CLI? As someone who uses the CLI constantly for file management, I can't imagine how annoying it would be to type something like "steam-cli -launch Elder_Scrolls_skyrim" and have it give an error of game not found because I said "skyrim" instead of "Skyrim", or remembering how to spell "Mushihimesama", as opposed to having all my games display there in a list and if I need to search only type 2-4 letters then click the result I need.

You aren't compiling a kernel for a microcontroller here, worrying about "bloat" of a GUI client is nonsensical when games can hit 100-200+GB nowadays and the whole point of this client is to launch said games. Just put a shortcut on your desktop if there is a game you play often, it would be faster than typing a CLI command.
>>
>>12757473
>Why the hell would you want to launch games from a CLI?
I don't, but I WOULD want a lightweight Qt frontend for such a Steam CLI.

Create an alias for each of your games in your .bashrc file (or whatever shell you use).

alias skyr="steam-cli --launch Elder_Scrolls_Skyrim"
alias oblv="steam-cli --launch Elder_Scrolls_Oblivion"
alias fo3="steam-cli --launch Fallout_3"
alias fonv="steam-cli --launch Fallout_New_Vegas"

This isn't helpful. I want a Steam GUI, but I want it to use as much RAM as the Steam GUI used to use 10 years ago. Less, ideally.

It's called using an Alias. Hell at this point you could vibe code a launcher script that can list out all your games.

I have a few qualms with this app:
1. For a Linux user, you can already build such a system yourself quite trivially by getting an FTP account, mounting it locally with curlftpfs, and then using SVN or CVS on the mounted filesystem. From Windows or Mac, this FTP account could be accessed through built-in software.

2. It doesn't actually replace a USB drive. Most people I know e-mail files to themselves or host them somewhere online to be able to perform presentations, but they still carry a USB drive in case there are connectivity problems. This does not solve the connectivity issue.

3. It does not seem very "viral" or income-generating. I know this is premature at this point, but without charging users for the service, is it reasonable to expect to make money off of this?
