what made it so good?

>>12755907I kinda hate the characters (except for Mentor and the bubble girl). I wish it was a game where you created your own entire superhero team from the start.
Great writing, lots of soul, lots of love for 60's comics and Jack Kirby.>>12757208I love the characters, but yeah, we could had more Freedom to choose our team.
>>12755907The people making it cared about the subject matter it was paying homage to. Still.to this day Ken Levine's best game along with the sequel.
>>12755907What did you like about it?
>>12759668Not OP but even if you don't delve into the custom character creation, the game gives a ton of freedom in how you want to approach missions by making basically every hero unique in their use and versatility. The fact that it utterly embraces the camp of the silver age (golden age for the sequel) comic era without even the slightest bit of cynicism. That it has an utterly insane amount of custom content built-in for the player to create if they have the time and passion to use it.And of course, that it's just a really well-made rpg
Wait a fucking minute you can make your own heroes? Theres a game a retro game no less and you can make sexalicious superheroes? And it's not a zombified resurrected dead mmo with shitty pisscord moderators? How am I just now learning about this? Oh and it's on steam and gog, too? Fuck sakes what's the point of being terminally online if I still miss all the good shit?
>>12761975Don't get the steam versions, they're really old and don't work super well especially on Win10. The gog versions work perfect out of the box.
>>12761975No idea, man. Sounds like you aren't paying the right attention because Freedom Force is not obscure.
>>12761975While it does have an incredibly extensive custom character creation, I would first do a playthrough of both the base game and expansion with the built-in heroes since they're the narrative focus and the missions were designed around their use.
>>12762286steam version works fine if you set the compatibility mode to win98 audio crackles a bit though
>>12757208>I wish it was a game where you created your own entire superhero team from the start.you did. The game had a huge mod community right after launch with skin editing handholding for casuals to make their custom heroes, or put in their favorite marvel/DC. They have kept that mod community alive for years.
