Inertia in shmups, not even once. That one design choice will ruin the game forever and beyond recognition or playability. It's virtually no different than playing with screen lag.

They just slowed down the entire game into something that feels like you and everything else is moving in molasses and managing this style of movement as a handicap. In a fast paced arcade style game. It literally ruins the game at a fundamental level.
