How impressive was the Halo 2 E3 2003 demo back in the day?>Halo 2 - E3 2002 Announcement Trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luhXojiSVC0>Halo 2 E3 2003 (Raw/Interlaced)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEgBlUxm128 They changed it in retail and I honestly prefer the one we have now. It's far better.
>>12758615Playing Halo 2 rn. Was having fun right up until the Brutes take over the game. They are not fun to fight holy shit. Big retarded bulletsponges, I hate how they just tank everything, other enemies actually respond to getting shot. They make it feel like a much more primitive shooter suddenly
>>12759245Shoot them in the head or use explosives personally I liked halo 2 brutes they feel like proper end game enemies I hate how nerfed they are in halo 3
>>12758615don't remember it at all. Halo 1 was already meh to me, because it didn't seem that great compared to what Quake 3 and Unreal 2 did.i remembered Warcraft 3 and some other RTS games were a big deal with PC gamers.
>>12759545How do you compare halo 1 and quake 3 you stupid fuck
>>12758615Don't remember anything about it, so probably not very. I was a PC gamer and we had already had shooters for a long time before Halo showed up.
>>12758615E3 2002 trailer had all my friends hyped. E3 2003 we were extra hyped. Me and my friends lost our fucking minds at the E3 gameplay and were pretty disappointed that the game didn't have a 1 shot battle riffle and the melee (that you see at 6:33) wasn't the same.I still don't get why it was made to be the 3 shot and then later have the DMR in Reach and later games, seems like a waste honestly. Although this one doesn't have it, I swear being able to throw grenades even when duel wielding was in one of the early videos from the 2003 E3. All things considered, even though we were all super hyped before release which included the (I think) IGN highest rated game all time, it's not that the final game disappointed us, but that we just wanted what we originally saw.
>>12758615We already had the same thread a few days ago.I swear 4chan has a couple of paid shills who just spam the exact same threads over and over, we also get a monthly thread about the true power of the PS3/Cell processor, it's just that sometimes it's on /v/, /vr/, or /g/.
I found the legendary mode to be no fun in halo 2. In halo 1 legendary mode was insanely hard but doable solo and even more so if you had a buddy to play co-op. halo 2 was differetn. Halo 2's legendary mode sorta killed the fun of it. Id rather not try to to complete it solo.. I don't have high hopes the co-op would be very fun either. By the time halo 2 rolled out, most of us were getting our miltiplayer fix by tinkering with these newfangled xbox live accounts. We were playing less co-op on a shared screen as we did before.
>>12758615as someone who grew up with doom/quake I can tell you halo on release was perceived is a casual zoomer loop clone of those games mostly for console retards. its basically what fortnite is nowadays for zoomer.
>>12759578same loser lolcow spamming multiple boards with same shit on repeat
>>12758615I wasn't impressed to be desu. I knew even from a young age cinematic trailers are not impressive. The gameplay demo I wouldn't know, never seen it until now.
>>12759524>Shoot them in the headI don't get why doing this with a carbine deletes them but with a shotgun they just won't die
>>12759665Halo multiplayer sucks compared to Quake/Unreal but it has kino campaigns.Fortnite hate is overblown and forced anyway. I mean I don't like the game, but it's fine, it doesn't deserve that level of seethe beyond the skin bullshit.
>>12759665>a casual zoomer loop clonezoomers didn't exist back in 2003 or they're literally babies... are u a bot or zoomer?
>>12759750>>12759665i see, you're just samefagging now to talk about non-/vr/ shooters. get lost >>>/v/raiders
>>12759553ok spammerbot. can u buy ads to suppork hiromoot and grapeape?
>>12759845>trolling is trollingeven by your logic, they would be 6 yrs old back then. and E3 back then should only be open to "industry" people some e-celebs. now go back to /v/ and buy ads for halo shilling.
>>12759838Shut tf up schizo retard, not even gonna bother proving you wtong with a screenshot bevause its not worth my timr
>>12758615>Halo 2 E3 2003 (Raw/Interlaced)I watched this video probably a thousand times before the game came out, I forgot it was even a thing.
>>12759553>How do you compate an FPS and an FPSShut the fuck up, retard.
>>12760353>why yes I compare Mario Kart and Forza Motorsports because they belong to the same genre
>>12759245I like fighting the Brutes more than the Elites because the Elites recover their health if you stop shooting at them for 5-10 seconds, but the Brutes always keep their injuries from all the pot shots you took at them from 200 feet away with your battle rifle. Makes dealing with them on Heroic or Legendary way easier because you can do it in stages, whereas with Elites you gotta fill them with bullets in one go or else they just heal it off.>Big retarded bulletspongesThis part is still very true though. Holy shit they soak up a lot of bullets. But at least they don't recover health.
>>12759665halo: making arenatards still seethe mightily a quarter century later!
>>12758615jesus anon at least post the original videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax1nvd8DF1Qalso>E3 2002not sure why that video says that. it didn't debut there, it was at a microsoft-only event called X02 that was later in the summer. i distinctly remember being disappointed that we got no news of a sequel at E3
Halo 2 barely ran on OG Xbox>Halo 2 had some notoriously bad pop-in issues with textures and geometry >Pop-in, level-of-detail popping, and occasional slowdowns were more visible during cinematics than in regular gameplay. Objects and environments would transition between detail levels noticeably, and distant geometry could appear low-detail or pop in abruptly>Another thing that was quite heavily downgraded in the transition from halo CE to halo 2 were the sparks and particle effects system. The impressive sparks from CE’s grenades, ricochet and explosions are nowhere to be seen. They were replaced with essentially a 2D gif of a spark>Halo 2 does not render in 480p natively https://icode4.coffee/?p=738>Halo 2 using HDD cache>Outskirts (old mombasa) has a texture cache size of ~19MBhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv-_LFTjjzU>Halo 2 does have realtime shadows with some lights, particularly ceiling lights (such as on Zanzibar) >The original Xbox had two different console types, the retail consoles that consumers would buy with 64MB of RAM, and a development console (or dev kit/debug console) that was used by game developers with 128MB of RAM. The extra RAM on the development console helped developers debug their games and run additional test code during the development process>Bungie guys were all excited about "Stencil shadows on everything">To get the scale of missions they wanted for halo 2 the lighting tech and real time reflections etc where too costly on the OG Xbox to be feesable at the scale they where going for. So it was removed>Some dynamic lighting spots in Halo 2 I've found throughout the years are Foundation in the video, Cairo station at the end of the level there is a dynamic light source in the elevator, The Oracle there are dynamic flashing ceiling lights after the cable is cut, Outskirts the flashing light above the doorway at the start of the level and in the Hotel
>>12759750>halo bad, fortnite goodstop drinking monsters, brayden, it’s way past bedtime
>>12759245I felt the same at the time, but I appreciate how they are big fuck-off enemies for the second half of the game. They were done dirty in Halo 3 where they just turned into cannon fodder.>>12759665Aight. Still had a great time playing Co-op with my dad and 4 player splitscreen with my buddies.
>>12759245I still remember the way their bodies ragdoll with a BR burst shot to their head. Rofl. Just aim good, they're weak to bullets like humans.
>>12759245My last H2 playthrough did get a little tedious once I got to the last couple levels of the game, where most of the on screen enemies can randomly charge at you and beat you to death in a couple hits
>>12761591Shadow of the Colossus is a game that could barely run on its hardware. Halo 2 was far from that, the FPS was stable and the graphics were good, "barely ran" is essentially libel.
>>12759665>its basically what fortnite is nowadays for zoomer.kekhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lgw2slDfx9Q
>>12764085>laughed my ass off at this when it was first making the rounds>now in current year it just seems mean-spirited
i'm reminded that most xbox live games had voice filters built in to accommodate for their squeaker audience
>>12760353At least pick a game with an actual campaign to compare Halo to, damn.
