The idea of Dreamcast being anything more than a stillbirth piece of shit with no games is the biggest psyop I've seen in recent times. It has absolutely no games of it's own, the few good games it had were quickly ported over to PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox. BTW they were clearly trying to copy the N64 controller with the big ass shell shape, singular joystick, and cross dpad.

This kind of contrarian revisionism isnt anything new, but i agree it got old a long time ago. The Dreamcast was such a massive failure that it took sega's hardware division down with it. The usual crowd get uppity when you say it, but they can't contest historical facts.It's really no different from the Virtual Boy fetishism that started popping up in the 2010s; nobody cared about these things when they were new, that's why they flopped, but some quirky zoomers stumbled upon these ancient relics and adopted them as part of their personas despite never experiencing them for themselves. It's roleplaying at best and stolen valor at worst.

Most of the games ported from dreamcast to ps2/gamecube/xbox were worse than on the dreamcast itself, the sonic adventure port on gamecube is famously bad, dead or alive 2 has worse graphics on ps2 (thought the ultimate version on the xbox was excellent, it came right at the tail end of the entire generation.)The controller does suck, though, totally agree, the dpad used to give my thumb blisters as a kid, the buttons are kind of mushy too, I usually just use an adapter and my xbox series controller or an arcade stick nowadays.

The experience of flying through the depths of Red Alarm is something that only actual VR has managed to replicate decades later. Nintendo discontinuing it early is my longest standing beef with them, right after letting go of Rare.
