Wish Sega brought this gem back.
>>12764316Super overrated, encounter rate+battles fast as molasses kills the game
>>12764316Nobody bought it the first 2 times they released it, kinda killed any desire for Sega to try again.
>>12764316Looks like OoT, Megaman Legends, and Legend of Dragoon had gay sex to formulate JRPG #87
>>12764316it's garbage, should have made Phantasy Star 5
>>12764316Not everything needs a fucking sequel or "remaster" or shitty remake. Just remember Shenmue III any time you feel aggrieved at some dead Sega franchise not getting another entry.
>>12764357I’d imagine a modern port would probably come with the ability to turn random encounters off similar to the ports for Final Fantasy games.
>>12764316If you love Skies of arcadia i recommend Grandia 1 It's like Skies of arcadia but with good combat
Imagine if all intellectual property was wiped from this earth and companies actually had to make good games and movies all over again
>>12764412Yeah, but a huge part of SoA’s appeal is the setting and characters. Who doesn’t love piratey adventure?
>>12764412grandia is trash
>>12764421Grandia is great.
>>12764402 On most cases yeah, but Shenmue makes sense. When we first played the games the clunkiness felt like a first step into something better. Now it's 3 in and no that's intentional actually, so any problems you accepted weren't temporary, they were just problems.18 years between Shenmue 2 and 318 damn years of possible introspection, personal development, advances in game design and hardware, potential rewrites and 3rd party inputAnd Yu Suzuki did NOTHING with any of it, made the exact same game two decades later as he would have made in 2002, what the actual fuck
>>12765485On some level that's commendable, to refuse to evolve with the times when so many people have thought games have gotten worse since back then. But at the same time, Capcom doesn't make classic RE games anymore for a reason, Code Veronica burned all goodwill.
>>12764316I remember all the jarpig elitists back in the day (the kind who shat all over FF7 and worshipped FF6 at any given opportunity) would praise this as some kind of overlooked brillaint gem of a game, yet when I played it I found it to be the most bog standard cookie cutter game in the whole genre, with saturday morning cartoon story and characters and a battle system as fun and exciting as watching paint dry. Never understood the hype.
>>12764382Let PS lay in rest, they been fighting the same Dark Faggot each game even beyond
Anyways, play Evolution Worlds.
>>12765519Even the remake of FF7 is better than FF7, why do you think it had to get remade? It's that dog shit.
>>12765485Shenmue 3 was practically an indie game
I want to play it but I heard the translation is pure fan fiction and has nothing to do with the real story.
>>12764316Tried to get into this game after reading about it here. It was a borefest. I had high hopes too but I should have known better after I got psyched up for deenz.
>Phase 1 - game is universally praised>Phase 2 - game is universally hatedLots of original thinkers ITT
someone really needs to fix the music on GCN
This game would be a masterpiece if the speed of combat was increased 50% and the encounter rate was decreased 50%. As it is fast forward is required for it to be playable.
>>12764403The gamecube version turned it way down. But even in the DC version you could avoid battles by flying really super high.
>>12767635Isn't the Gamecube version inferior?
>>12770138>you could avoid battles by flying really super high. The fuck. I wish I knew this 60 hours ago.
>>12770138>The gamecube version turned it way down.It didn't. Speedrunners were digging into the code a few years back and not only is the encounter rate not touched, nothing else related to that is except for specifically one enemy you encounter once
>>12764316Someone post the gif with aika making a bad joke that kills this guy
>>12770337If this is true it just makes the complaints sound like bitching and moaning. The encounter rate in SMT3 is FAR worse
>>12764414cope
Would be nice if we got a modern release with a fixed translation.
>>12770148The audio quality took a hit because they decided to cram the whole game onto a single 1.4GB disc WITH EXTRA CONTENT ON TOP. The Dreamcast version was on two 1GB discs, but lacked the extra content added to the Gamecube release. If you're OK, with lo-fi audio, I say play the Gamecube version.
>>12764316I'd love a sequel, but I'd love it more if that sequel came out in like 2005 instead of current year.
>>12774170No one made a mod for the gamecube version to fix the music?
I fucking love this game.I sat down on the Dreamcast one and did every single piece of content in the game, even the weird DLC things. I played so much fucking Pinta Quest on my VMU. That little game being as fun as it was while also adding stuff to the base game you collected was amazing. By the way the encounter rate isn't that bad if you fly above the clouds. You can get the white flag but it doesn't matter. Just embrace the battles.
>>12767631PS4 had the source of the Dark Faggot though, so it was different
>>12765485Shenmue 3 is a terrible game and I've wasted my life
>>12774252Not as far as I'm aware. I've always thought it could be done with an expanded ISO.
