Why is retrocollecting so expensive and elusive?
Zoomers.
It isn't and it isn't.
>>12764917I could go for a cold ebisu right now.
>>12764921>zoomers play nothing but fortnite and roblox>...but zoomers are also to influence retro game marketprices at a global scaleit's crazy how much power their generation has don't you think?
>>12764921Have nothing to do with that.
I think a lot of these threads, the ones seething about prices and asking "When will prices come down" and etc. are explained by the large increase of third worlders who are constantly getting onto the Internet.A used Game Boy in working condition, maybe a bit dinged up, can be had for $40. But that's a MONTH'S salary to some of the thirdies who infect the board now.I also think a good portion of the anti-retro spam we see is by Tendo and Sorny and MS community managers who are angry that people are spending money on old used stuff rather than the games offered on the native retro-emulation platforms these companies offer on their games machines.Very similar to the anti-CRT whining we see - who would seethe about that other than LCD panel makers angry that somebody will pay more for an ancient TV than their new (((smart))) bullshit.Impossible to tell bots and thirdies apart these days, probably a blend of the two.
>>12764917>retrocollectingAlso note the lack of space between retro and collecting. Indicates a north European, for whatever reason they got so butthurt about losing the war in Ukraine that they've decided to take it out on /vr/ and other innocent boards. It's one of the most obvious NAFO signatures.
>>12764917Would
Why is almost every thread stupid retarded questions? You make a thread about actual video games and playing them and it gets 3 replies. Then stupid shit like this will get 80 and it's just people insulting each other and flame warring over the same tires old shit, you got people asking "is this game good?" "Why is X so Y?" "Hurr durr dreamcast died hurr durr gayga shiturn" this place fucking sucks so bad now I actually miss that fat retard princess seven leaf.
>>12764993The point of the thread is woman.
>>12764993Activity simulation, most threads here are made, and populated by, botposts or regurgitated comments. I've seen several posts here that I made years ago, in the repeat threads. If you're going to scam your benefactors bit, you'd better pretend you have a real audience.
What's with this new gimmick of posting Japanese women playing the Snes? I wish I could kick you in the nuts since it's clear you don't want a honest discussion, you just are a monkey who sees pic and think "MAN I NEED TO POST THIS ON 4CHINZ AND GET MAXIMUM EXPOSURE".
>>12765168Indeed, I'd rather have photos of 80s japanese ladies playing on cocktail cabs instead.
>>12764962based post. there's also genuine schizos. i don't know if there are more of those or thirdies on this board.
Legit copies are strictly physical, and there's a finite number of them, and more and more people want that shit. That's it, that's the reason.
>>12765219Nooooooooooooooooooo zhut uuupppp
>>12764931>robloxthat's gen alpha. zoomers are now 30 years old, gramps.
>>12765224Roblox is from the mid 2000s, and a couple kids of the 2000s played that shit, it's late millennial to zoomer shit
>>12764917Retro gaming is expensive due to a fixed, dwindling physical supply paired with a massive surge in demand. Adults who grew up playing these systems now have disposable income, driving up nostalgic demand. This is worsened by closed digital storefronts, new modern hardware that uses original cartridges, and speculative collecting.
>>12764921with what money? most of my zoomer coworkers (who have all since been fired kek) were living paycheck to paycheck because of their game subscriptions. zoomers have no money with all the latest tiktok fad trash they all buy.
>>12765603>speculative collecting. This is main the reason why retro collecting jumped massively in price in the last 10 years. If people thought they couldn't make money. Then retro collecting would be largely ignored by scalpers and outsiders.
>>12764993The answer, as always, is zoomers
>>12765943>Toxoposters are zoomers. Wow, what a revelation. It must suck not being able to afford the medication to get rid of that brain parasite you got from that pest animal.
>>12766058Go back stupid war tourist nigger.
>>12764962This. The great firewall cant come soon enough.
>>12764917It's not expensive and it's not elusive.
>>12764962You're overcomplicating the issue. Zoomers just think emotionally instead of rationally so when they see a stupidly high ebay listing they have to make a thread about it as if it were the real average price, because that's how they respond to stimuli.
>>12764931It's literally just shitlennial collectors who are willing to drop 500$ on Mario 64 pumping up the prices. It's been that way since the beginning of time.
>>12765603All of these games were mass produced, there is nothing "dwindling" here. What the fuck are you talking about.
>>12764917It's expensive because people allowed it to be expensive. It's called supply and demand, the more people want something, the more expensive you can make it and people will still buy it. No one is buying retro sports game crap. It's the type of shit you see at goodwill for like $2 but if it's a game that people really want like say Earthbound, you can jack the prices to the sky. Value is dictated by the consumer. People often view retro games as classics, so naturally their value will be higher than say a used PS4 game from 10 years ago where it's not old enough to be a classic but not new enough to be considered modern. Theres cheaper ways top play classic games. Some don't even require spending money like emulation, but if you want that authentic feeling, you need to pay whatever value people deem it's worth and in a era of constant nostalgia pandering, the past is viewed in much higher regard than the present.
who fucking cares about collecting useless plastic crapwhat a loser
>>12764962>who would seethe about CRTs other than "LCD panel makers"Probably shitposters or people who don't like CRTs. I can't imagine they lose sleep over a handful of people on /vr/ not wanting to buy their latest ad-viewing screens.
>>12769842Pretty sure it's LCD makers, Google sells tons of "viral" ads and messages here.Nice damage control though, next time perhaps you can remove the name, might work better lol.
>>12769880This. LG hates CRTs, they told me this personally at our /vr/ infiltration meetings.
>>12769887Whoever it is, also hates retro collecting of vidya lol. We're all supposed to either forget about old games entirely, or just buy them from the Tendie Store.
>>12764917i would love to be her date
>>12765205It's either thirdies and bots like >>12764962 mentioned or tourists that larp as newfags.
>>12764917just dont collect and play on emulators?
>>12771247you forgot to wipe the name clear after your last "on every field", mate
>>12764917the market is going to crash soon
>>12764917rarity, demand, and way too many greedy assholes
>>12764975>Also note the lack of space between retro and collecting. Indicates a north European, for whatever reason they got so butthurt about losing the war in Ukraine that they've decided to take it out on /vr/ and other innocent boards. >>It's one of the most obvious NAFO signaturesYou are mentally ill dude
>>12764975Based. Fuck nafo. All my homies hate the U.S.
>>12773080Nah Europeans randomly don't put spaces in between words, Germanic languages and Finnish are egregious with this.
>>12764917High demand, low supply, and it involves goods that by definition aren't being produced anymore.
>>12776409No fuck you sell your shit you don't want that plastic do you? sell it for cheap now
