Nobody can afford anything at today's prices. Look what a GBA costs nowaways.
>>12765284maybe when everyone who cares about it is dead
>>12765284if you can't afford it, emulate
>>12765293Pretty sure everyone who cares about Ginger Spice is already dead
What do you get out of spamming this same thread multiple times a week?
>>12765284I'm so sick of game coomlectors. I have way more respect for Funko Pops collectors because at least those aren't available by download for free.
>>12765316>You wouldn't download a Pop
>>127653163D PRINTERS
>>12765284What is a Ginger Spice?
>>12765284this bitch is still alive...couldn't she just make more of these for $1M a pop
>>12765497pretty sure you're the first person itt that isn't a bot, anon
>>12765284just emulate. only retards buy retro games
many of these collectors don't even play the games they buy. They just want them as collector's items. buying the whole n64 collection for example makes you a retard because a lot of the games are shit
>>12765284man I remember the good ol days of '09 when you could find bins full of GBAs signed by Ginger Spice at the local Goodwill for a dollar each
>>12765642Not as retarded as you with your fugly filter.
>>12765284With inflation, it's only going to get more expensive. You might see prices come down in 20 or 30 years when retro hardware becomes so decrepit it's actually a liability to own rather than a luxury, and pre-owned consoles essentially become embodiments of Thesseus's ship, which have been replaced and repaired of parts so often there is virtually nothing original left inside of them.In short; the only long-term way to preserve video games is to port them to PC and preserve their source code and a master copy. Otherwise, once the last copy of that one game that was never ripped and uploaded is destroyed or decays beyond repair, that's it, it's gone forever, lost to time. Even games that have been uploaded are imperfect rips, and eventually will degrade over time, or become lost through losing hosts for their content. There were roughly 15,000 C64 games made for the system. Of those, only half of them are maintained in various databases across the web.
>>12765642No, only retards emulate. Especially retards that think they can replicate the effects of a CRT television. Any sensible person would have a flash cart to go along with their original hardware or at the very least a reproduction copy if the original game was too high.
>>12765480Ice Spice's mom
>>12766056Nah, I don't emulate but I think it's pretty based that people can play games at no cost on an old computer they have laying around. I wouldn't personally do it, I think old hardware, games, and televisions are comfy, but having an option to access for free is very nice.
>>12766061It's okay if you literally have no other way to play it but there's plenty of cheap GBAs out there.
>>12766056Only autistic faggots care about original hardware. If the game is good, it's good enough to play on its own without relying on the nostalgia of pretending you're 7 again holding the controller waiting for mommy to call you for dinner.
>>12766075Okay now try saying it without the immense butthurt and seethe behind it.
>>12766056i don't care about replicating the effects of a crt
>>12766278Same. I will never miss them, large pieces of junk.Outside of the cultists and reseller shills here 99.9% of the world is fine without them.
>>12765284Only if the world stops hyper-inflating its non-gold standard money. Which they never will because it makes it easier to pay off debts owed.
>>12766278Weird thing to say when a majority of the shaders you used are supposedly based on them in some form or another.
i hate handhelds. The screen is too small. it's uncomfortablei would rather emulate gba games on a tv than play a gba. i don't care if it looks like shit on a tv
Retro gaming in general Is a cope
>>12766079He's right though. The games actually worth playing you can play on a laptop with a dualshock 3. You don't need to larp as Timmy in the 90s to force yourself to endure it for 10 minutes for the Reddit photoRedpill is there's very few games actually worth playing
>Will the cost of this stuff which is no longer being produced, is constantly being made more scarce as old units stop working and degrade, everyone who owns these things is convinced they are serious investments and not toys and increasing demand ever go down?Maybe if society collapses and we stop having electricity anon. Just grab whatever you can get when you see them at relatively reasonable prices if you actually want them enough, its all down hill from here
>>12766406I think there's a lot of stuff worth playing. I can see the appeal of a video game collection, unfortunately I was stupid and let my mom toss all my old shit from when I was a kid. The only old console I have is a ps3 and having the disk collection for that and playing it on a dedicated thing rather than a pc does make it more fun. But that bit of extra fun isnt worth the thousands I'd have to pay to play some old snes games I want so emulating is good enough
>>12766446>old console>ps3Holy zoom zoom Batman!
>>12766468It came out 20 years ago anon. The NES was old in 2005. The SNES was old in 2011. You're old. You need to accept it.
>>12766486Zoom zooms are old. But they are still zoomers.
>>12766398Yes. Coping with how shitty terrible modern video games are.

>>12766406>spends time on videogame-oriented message board to complain about not liking videogamesHow about you find a hobby you actually enjoy instead of turning being bitter into your hobby?
>>12765642those scanlines are disgusting and nothing like a real CRT you queer
>>12765284We've been having this discussion here since 2013. No. >>12766056Flash carts are emulation.
>>12766278>>12766284Just say you are too poor to buy them or have a game room to keep them in
>>12767679>Flash carts are emulation. No they're not. Are you retarded per chance.
>>12767682even if i were a billionaire i would not pay for something that people were throwing out a decade ago paying for something that people thought was trash a decade ago goes against my principles
i don't think i have ever played a genesis with composite cables. when i owned a genesis i was playing it with an rf cable i didn't know about composite until i got a n64
paying for something someone was going to give away for free is a humiliation ritual
>>12767679they are not emulation as freemcboot is not ps2 emulation
>>12765284Is retro gaming even still popular? People don't watch the Angry Video Game Nerd as much as they used to, so I'd say retro gaming isn't as big as it once was.
>>12767865This. ODEs aren't emulators either.
>>12769348What does the E stand for?
>>12769351Emulator, but just of the DRIVE.It basically pretends to be the CD unit, but then the raw data is still processed by the real hardware. You damn well know what people mean when they say "emulation". A flashcart on original hardware is no emulation as they mean either.
>>12767004Agreed. 90% of the time collectors don’t even play them.I have my childhood collection of SNES, PSX, N64, GB, GBA games… but I emulate them because it’s easier. I emulate games I own. Fuck it.
>>12769351It's the E from rEtarded>>12769390ThisJust like how flash carts just emulate the game. The raw data is still processed by the real hardware. This is why early version of piracy devices were called EPROM emulators. But it's totally not emulation. It's just called that because grownups are retarded and wrong and I'm smart and right.
Still cheaper than most other hobbies. Hell, much cheaper than the hobbies that consume supplies to engage in. I know a guy who fishes. To fish on the weekends, he has a small little boat with a motor which requires non-Ethanol fuel to work right, a trailer for the boat pulled by his truck, which gets about 14MPG on diesel. That doesn't include the regular costs for the fishing license, line, lures, bait, hooks, and other expenses. That's shelling out money every time he engages with his hobby. The only time I pay for anything with retro games is when I want more stuff or need to repair something.
>>12766075She’s DEAD asshole
>>12770141Ya, dead tired of your bullshit anon.
>>12765293This is why the colecovision is becoming an accessible product
>>12768395Avgn is not retro and does not dictate if retro is popular or not.
>>12770116This.
>>12765642When all the modern computers are spyware you will only find solace in these devices with 6502, z80 and m68000 microprocessors. Every NES is a potential way to communicate over the air waves with your pals as every NES is a secret TV station outputting on channel 3. The internet of VHF is coming.
>>12770308AVGN was made for those who grew up with NES games tho. Most of its audience were 80s and 90s kids.
>>12767865>>12769348You're emulating the cart. It's emulation.
>>12772107By that logic, all carts are emulation because they were all developed on flash carts. That's a stupid argument.
>Will the cost of retro gaming stuff ever come down? Not as long as there are people with too much money and a hole in their heart that can only seem to be filled by buying physical versions of games half-remembered from their childhood.I'm thinking of parting with my copy of this shit because I never play it, can just emulate it if I want to, and because look at this. What the fuck it's not even limited to good games. Just anything less common than john madden sports ball throw this in the garbage '99
>>12772207wtf is that price, tendies will pay prenium for any god damn slop.
