Wow cool more ways to replay great games
>>
I say Sony CXA.
>>
>>12768757
i think the only truly wrong option is playchoice 10
>>
find 2 crts that produce the exact same color image
>>
>>12768757
NES used analog colors just like the regular broadcasts back in the 80's and 90's. E.g. the same episode of Charles in Charge or whatever would look different on each family's TV, because none of them were mathematically correct.

The Genesis at least has actual defined colors, the NES does not.

NES color palette also has some "illegal" colors that could cause some TV sets to malfunction or fail to display pictures.
https://www.nesdev.org/wiki/Color_$0D_games

The Immortal is a pretty notable example because it uses color $0D for the shading on characters during combat encounters.
On most TV sets, this shading would appear to be the exact same black as the background, and this is what the Nintendo Switch Online version does.
On a few TV sets, you might see the shading like pic related.
>>
>>12768930
that's what you get for playing inferior ports
>>
Every NES is personalized.
>>
>>12768781
PC-10 is the ONLY canonical RGB palette.

>"At that time, you could only have about 3 colors for the blue sky, on the Family Computer. It took me a while to decide which one I would use, and eventually I picked the purplish one. I felt that purple had the depth of nature. I was really into that."

I personally use Wavebeam
It has those nice bluer skies but otherwise isn't too saturated or different from the typical emulator palettes
>>
>>12768981
Western insects don't even realize they're supposed to be playing superior japanese games at D93 color temp and 0 IRE blacks, the japanese standard. You need to dogeza collectively as a group and beg for forgiveness for all these years you've all spent butchering and misinterpreting japanese graphics, then cut off your dicks as your atonement.

i bet it actually looks pretty good if you output it to the shittiest fucking old ass crusty dumpster CRT you can find
>>
>>12768994
BlastEm has better colors and is better, it's just the retroarch version which is shit
>>
>>12768958
more like everyones TV set was
ime it was common to go over to some old relatives house and find something obviously retarded going on. ie grandma tried to turn the volume up cuz she couldnt hear and accidentallyed the saturation up to 100. and its been there ever since.

Wavebeam wins. its a subtle coloring and looks natural.
>>
>>12769025
BlastEm isn't on Wii is it?
>>
>>12768757
Needs the Sharp NES tv.
>>
>>12769063
Doesn't matter because you still need shaders to get the proper colors out of it
>>
>>12769016
Looks great for most games imo, there are some exceptions but I love the in your face hues.

I use a variant of the FCEUX palette for NES, I like how colourful it is
>>
>>12771536
>colourful

Not a good description. I mean vibrant, but without leaning into eye shattering like that Playchoice10 in the OP.
>>
>>12768757
I'm sorry, what new autism thread is this?

This may shock and surprise people, but the majority of us just played games on whatever color settings were already there on our TV's, and most people didn't even bother trying to make sure their TV displayed colors correctly. Just a sharp, bright, and colorful image was considered good by most people. You wouldn't believe how many people had humans walking around looking almost orange because they had color and brightness turned way the fuck up. If you adjusted their TV to be properly calibrated, they would promptly complain that the picture looked dim and washed out.
To me, Composite Direct from OP's image looks closest to what I remember.

Wavebeam seems most appealing to me.

The prior thread disappeared, so I'll ask again, which one of these should get the PPUdigitizer when I find someone that can install it? As I understand it, the Lumacode is all digital, so what palette does it match best with or do I set it with the interpreting device (in this case, the Retrotink4k) to Wavebeam?

>>12771874
A Lava FC from AliExpress would be more cost effective, especially since you already have a scaler.
>>
>>12768757
Sony CXA is the best one because the Mario sky is blue and the metroid lava is red without being a high contrast mess like the Playchoice 10
>>
>>12769009
You're an idiot
>>
>>12769063
No it's not, I don't get why because doesn't seem like it needs that much to run compared to SNES

The handheld versions are correct, because they don't have manual hue, contrast, or colour calibration settings.

Wavebeam looks like the most natural middle ground, but that modified version of FCEUX looks neat >>12771536, I do kinda like Sony CXA for GBC games tough
>>
>>12768757
First column is correct.
>>
>>12768918
I don't know a whole lot about the Genesis and it's colors, but I read something about blue precisely needing a boost to look correct in emulators, and BlastEm has an option for it. Otherwise, it can be implemented through a shader.
