I found a working CRT in the trash recently and decided I want to use it for /vr/ shit (I've been mainly emulating things from the SNES's library), and wanted to know what's the recommended move for if you're working with a CRT and not just some flatscreen.I've narrowed it down to a few options:>some FPGA thing like picrelated, it's got RCA ports so there won't be lag but I'll be stuck with just whatever my flashcart I'll be buying with this console supports (so SNES and maybe some GB)>PC with some kind of hypothetical expansion card I'm unaware of that outputs to RCA, dunno if that causes lag or not>make a MiSTer build and hope the cores are good enough, I heard the SNES cores are excellent but other consoles are iffyIt also doesn't have to be just SNES, that's just my favorite but I'm open to playing/emulating other consoles too.

You're better off with a real SNES than a system-on-a-chip clone console like a Hyperkin. The Chinese usually just make something that sort of works and copy it forever.

>>12774409*I'd go with VGA to Component.You can always ad NTSC composite effects via shaders. But unmolested component on a CRT makes games look absolutely beautiful. You can use the GTU shader in retroarch to tone down the sharpness and find the sweet spot that you like.

>>12770349Mister is best of all worlds put into one. Extremely accurate, has perfect analog out with whatever your signal of choice is. It's not a whole lot of setup and it just fkn works once it is. Cores are updated frequently. I can't distinguish between gameplay on it vs original hardware. Supports like every usb controller known to man as well as original controllers, the latter with zero input lag. Next best is original consoles with flash carts. It's basically the real deal unless you're a sentimental person who cooms every time he switches cartridges. Other than that it's basically the original experience without the hoarding of expensive plastic. Great if you're only interested in one or two consoles but it gets cluttery, and pricey pretty fast especially if you want them modded with other signal outputs and recapped and shit. Lacks features and flexibility. I don't really recommend >>12774409 unless you have a bit of 'tism and even once you iron out the kinks(takes alot of time and effort) it's still kind of annoying to use and it's still software pc emulation(shit). This option is good for watching shit though like dvdrips. You could do wii but the emulation isn't accurate or even fast but it's a cheap and easy analog out option. You also have to deal with an annoying wiimote every time you want to change roms or start anything up. Great only for playing Gamecube/Wii roms off sd card.Just get a mister. I've done it all and it's easily the best option. For handhelds maybe consider modded suped up originals with ips screens and flashcarts since y'know, it's more authentic than playing low res handheld games on a tv. For anything gen 6 like PS2, jailbreak the consoles and load them up with roms. It's easy.
