I've tried so many times to beat this game over the years, but I can not defeat the unbearable boredom. Most of it is waiting for battles to load, waiting for characters to move into place to do their animations, waiting for those animations. You get it, I've never seen such a slow paced JRPG in my life.
Sounds like a personal problem to me. And speaking of sound, what an amazing OST this game has
>>12772484I know saying this on /vr/ is probably verboten, but when emulating older JRPGs, I always assign 300% or 500% speed to an unused shoulder button. It makes the loading screens, unskippable animations, screen transitions etc go by in an instant. I can't go back to real hardware.
>>12772484>>12772517Filtered. YDNBTG.>>12772514Yep.
>>12772517>>12772530>fast forward you didn't beated the game
>>12772530>YDNBTG.The furthest I've ever made it is 20 hours in. Being boring as shit is the ultimate filter.
>>12772517I do this but always make an effort to beat my impatience into submission. I'm currently over 70 hours into a JRPG and have only used fast-forward for maybe 45 seconds of actual game time, mainly to speed up long spell animations when my patience runs thin.>inb4 I didn't beat the game
>>12772517You beat the game and wasted less time than people who were limited by original hardware.
there are ways to mitigate it. I'm pretty sure theres either a romhack or a cheat that disables random encounter while you hold a button
>>12772596YDNBTG
I hope they release a remake soon so that the shitty random encounters can be removed.
>>12773376Cope.
>>12772484I dont even really like JRPG's but had fun playing the gamecube version and finished it. Fun game
>>12772517>shoulder button as ffSame, I don't limit myself to rpgs though
>>12772484Check out Phantasy Star Online instead. It's still fun even if you play offline singleplayer.
>>12772517This + save states. Who cares about doing it hardcore style if you are just playing it once and for the first time?
>>12772484Play it on gamecube. The encounter rate is the same but the loading times are a lot faster, making it feel like there are far less battles in the long run. Also don't bother exploring. There's no point because heaps of shit is missable. If you want to get all the things, use a guide so you know precisely where to go.
Remember to play the undub instead of the trannylations>Creepy
>>12772484im in love with this game but i honestly think playing pinta quest in the middle of battle animations or loading screens made it even more fun for me
>>12772517This is sadly important sometimes but it's FAR worse in the 3D era, generally. 3D graphics and cheap high-capacity storage media just shattered the minds of Japanese developers and turned them into insane wannabe moviemakers even though they all sucked at making movies.
>>12774441So like there's a lot of pedo stuff or extremely low-quality, high-quantity boob jokes or some other standard Japanese garbage like that?
>>12772517Fast forward in emulators is LITERALLY the only reason I have been able to attempt to get into JRRPGs as a genre. Without it, I feel like im wasting so much fucking time because JRPGs have SO much god damn fucking padding. And unlike W-Rpgs, they have awful writing. WRPGs you cant fast forward because they pack in so much world building through text, but in JRPGs its just Shounen-tier dialogue.
>>12774441the undub still uses the original inaccurate english translation
