Why is every Contra game after the first two on NES the most tedious, memorization heavy, borderline puzzle game ever invented? It's like they forgot how to make a good game and just made Simon Says.
I never felt they were heavy on memorization. Good reflexes will do.
Operation C, Contra Spirits, Hard Corps, Neo Contra and Shattered Soldier are all excellent.
>>12772645>remembering boss patterns and behaviors makes a game a puzzle onesounds like you need to stop crying and git gud loser
>>12772645Actually, this is the first game in the series where you have spacing and all that. But it killed off mechanics like weapon switching, so it plays even more lame than Contra 3 and Hard Corps. In those games, weapon switching gave players more maneuverability through the stages. But along with *Neo* and *Operation*, they’re my favorite games in the series. I also agree with the OP about the series’ “Simon Says” approach to game design. *Metal Slug* BTFO every game in the series in that regard, and pretty much in every other aspect too, to be honest.
