Finally got around to beating Tribunal (because it's crap), and it left me feeling bitter, just like Vivec and Dagoth Ur state in game. "Something that started with such glory and promise, and ended so bitterly". The 3 gods + Dagoth betraying Nerevar, building up temple/6th house, Sotha delving into hidden mysteries, Almalexia flipping her shit to hold on to divinity and worship, all just ends ingloriously in them all dying. So yeah, Tribunal was dogshit gameplay-wise, but it really helped drive home the point of how futile screwing around with Lorkhan's heart and existing in that world in general, is. In a way, it puts you in the same situation - you have god-like powers, and nothing to do with them, just loneliness when no-one even believes your story.
Bloodmoon was worse in every single way
>>12773260desu, for being made in like a couple months, and being written almost entirely by one dude mark nelson, i think its actually pretty impressive. its pretty clear he wanted to make some options to side against helseth/almalexia earlier in the questline, but didnt have time to finish it. so you end up with this rushed feeling, kinda confused, mostly linear questline, that feels like it just sort of progresses anyways regardless of how you as a PC might feel about iti actually liked a lot of the little sidequests and hidden bosses. that crimson plague lich boss is a rly fun fight at high levels, and that one crazy lady that kills the ordinator is another fun one too. that wood elf beggar that becomes an ebony warrior after you spurn him is a hood classic too.i liked the dungeon(s) in general desu. MW rly needed more endless labyrinths imo. its vanilla dungeons were mostly weak as hell.throwing weapons also got a much needed buff too, so thats funi think its biggest flaw, aside from being rushed in general, is how its presented in-game. in vanilla, you get targeted by the assassins immediately, without anyone knowing youre important. helseth just "knows" already, which is dumb af. and then it points you right to the fucking underground quests, which are total cancer to play at low lvls.but im also not gonna put that on mark, because thats almost certainly todds "everyone should be able to play everything" anti-RPG design philosophy that did that. mark obviously wrote it under the assumption that the player has progressed the vanilla MQ to the point of being named hortator which has thankfully been a mod for decades. if you play it then, at higher levels, i find its a much smoother experience. and the narrative makes more sense too
>>12773324i can see itin bloodmoon, the fun route REQUIRES you to become a werewolf. which IS fun, but its also high-maintenance, having to go hunt every single night. but that fun route also means you have to side with the cartoonishly evil, dont get to build up the town, and it makes actually staying on solstheim annoying af, since theres hardly any vendorsthe generic enemies are also, similar to tribunal, needlessly overtuned since it was designed for endgame characters. im ok with the big bosses being like that, but why do mounted rieklings have like 80 reflect? its stupid. it doesnt even make sense. god forbid you go there early and accidentally aggro that one lvl 85 naked breton werewolf dude that spawns sometimes.the whole thing feels like a trap. they give you this new place to explore, and you can go there whenever, but then you try to play even the first starter quests or explore a few caves and quickly find out "oh im supposed to be like 20 lvls higher".so at least, unlike tribunal, it doesnt have anything pointing a new player to itbut also, unlike tribunal, which does add to the MQ and overall games narrative, bloodmoon just feels like some nordic fever dream. its so unrelated to everything. it doesnt make sense why the nerevarine would be doing that shit, at any point in their adventure. not early, not during, not after.
I also just finished Tamriel Rebuilt's Nerevar bonewalker questline and now I am even more sad. Though the whole "holy bonewalker just fucks off somewhere pls help us find it" thing is hilarious. Dude just shuffling out there.>>12773324>>12773372Bloodmoon let you levitate and the setting overall made sense. There's the colony, there's the locals, there's the indian burial ground or whatever. Tribunal makes no sense, apparently red mountain is safer than the capital's sewers. In fact Tribunal feels completely fake. Morrowind quests have a secondary function as an exposition for the world (most of the time) and worked as threads of a single tapestry (most of the time, if you ignore naked barbarians). Tribunal quests have none of that. It's just naked barbarians all the time. Museum of artifacts with a single bizarre artifact, why? Black dart gang, why? All the random crap living underneath the city like it's a diablo 2 dungeon, why? I guess it was a way to pad the game out, but why not go with something that makes sense? Instead of black dart gang, it could be some dremora lord sensing Tribunal has no powers and so he gathers a bunch of daedra and invades the city. Instead of dwemer ruins, go to a sload sky port. Instead of all the crap being under the city, make it happen across oblivion. Instead of gaenor or gedna just chilling under alma's temple, have powerful enemies that make sense.

>>12773324Bloonmoon isn't fantastic but is still alright. Way better than tribunal though. Tribunal is completely half baked.
