I finally played the original, after playing almost all the other titles in the series it felt wrong to leave this one untouched. I honestly am blown away by how much worse it is compared to even We Love Katamari.I get it's the first and it will be rough but it's wild to me how much of a gap in quality there is between this one and the second game.Still a fun game but unless you already played all the other ones you're better off with playing We Love Katamari.

>>12773386We Love Katamari has dumbed down controls which make it much easier to roll up whatever. The original game requires much more effort and has you relying on doing pole vaults to get onto higher ground easy. You can still just roll up into high ground, but it's not as easy. The ball has more "weight" to it in the original game, in WLK it just goes up everything with minimal resistance.WLK also has worse music, a lot more in-game loading (but to be fair the levels are larger), fuck ton of popup (first game allows you to see miles ahead every time), and the camera is positioned to get around the popup issues ie. it's always pointing at a downwards angle while the first game allows you to see around a wide area.First game also has the levels look more surreal with larger open areas. Like you have dudes spinning in the air holding a flagpole, or down on all fours with spinning mosquito traps on their legs and arms and they toot around town like a car. It's hard to describe. WLK just has crap littered around everywhere.The one thing WLK does better is having more levels but they are also "balanced" around knowing exact paths, much more like a puzzle game, to get good times. KD is much easier in that regard, you can just dick around relaxed. Except for a few "collect specific items" levels where you can get too large to find certain items.Also the cowbear level is way way way the fuck worse in WLK. Katamari has separate cow and bear levels but they are easier (except for that one hail mary jump you have to do to get the present on the Cow level, holy fuck).
