Who remembers this Gravitar-like NES game? In Solar Jetman, you pilot a small exploration pod through caverns, fighting off enemies and the constant pull of gravity, as you tow ship upgrades, fuel canisters, and treasure chests back to your ship on the planet's surface.
Decent game. Produced by Rare iirc
Owned it, came close to beating it, got filtered on the final level(the boss) because I touched a wall and that deals lethal damage on the final level for no apparent reason. Came back and beat it years later, ending was lame garbage. Once you've beaten the 2nd level, you've pretty much experienced everything the game has to offer. It's a game that seems really cool at first, but becomes less enjoyable the more you play it. After you get into the groove, the majority of the game involves flying around, finding a chest, and then attaching your grapple beam to the chest and trying to run it back to your ship, while dropping it anytime you need to throw your shields up to deal with respawning enemies. Rinse and repeat all game long. And every level seems to take longer than the last to complete. Even knowing exactly where to go, it can take well over an hour to clear many levels.
Never beat it, it gets challenging fast
>>12774642It's one of my favorite games on the console.>>12774729The final level/boss does suck. I actually had the same experience of reaching it once when I was younger but only beating it years later.
>>12774729I own it. Finished it. I have wall maps of the levels I made by tracing the radar on the tv screen. Very accurate post.
>>12774642>he doesn't look as cool as his box art
>>12775615Even though he looks like a goober the music and sound effects are pretty rad.
>>12775321>I actually had the same experience of reaching it once when I was younger but only beating it years later.Did you fly into the wall trying to turn your now non-existent shields on? Because that's how I killed myself back then.
iirc the later levels start to get really weird with nonsense geometry, or maybe that was just a secret area I went into without realizing it
>>12775792The level before the final level is specifically weird and has three different regions that look drastically different. First one is mostly normal, second area is a blue cave, third is weird techno blocks. Secret areas are found in warps, and have you flying at high speed before getting dumped back out.
