Interviewer: The Sega Saturn just launched. What’s your take on it?

Steven Spielberg: The Saturn is powerful, with great potential. But the challenge is content and connecting with players. It’s a competitive market, but I believe it has a future.

Interviewer: There’s talk about you working on a game called Bug for the Saturn. Can you confirm?

Steven Spielberg: I can’t reveal everything, but I’ll say Bug is special. It’s more than a game; it’s a story, a world. It’s designed to showcase what the Saturn can do and has the potential to really help the platform.

Interviewer: So, Bug might be a launch title?

Steven Spielberg: That’s the idea. It could be a key title that helps save the Saturn. It appeals to both gamers and movie fans, blending storytelling and gameplay.

Interviewer: Interesting! Is there a connection between Bug, your upcomimg film Antz?

Steven Spielberg: Absolutely. Bug is inspired by that tiny-world concept—small creatures with big stories. Antz explores themes of community and identity.
We’re bringing that charm into gaming, blending animation magic with interactivity.

Interviewer: It sounds exciting. Do you think Bug could influence storytelling in games?

Steven Spielberg:
I believe so. It’s about creating immersive worlds where players can live the story. With the Saturn’s capabilities, we’re pushing those boundaries.

Interviewer: Thanks, Steven. We’re excited to see what’s next.

Steven Spielberg: Thank you. It’s an exciting time for entertainment, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience Bug.

>Bug wasn't even at the tradeshow the quote attributes it to

Now watch as conspiracy theorists try to pretend that it was behind closed door and that's why the quote the elusive; I mean it's not like Steven Speilberg could just walk within the aisle right????

Why misinformation is so prevalent in video game history ?
>>
>>12774759
Bug is supposed to be this super stressfull super challenging unfair game now? Geez people really suck at video games. The levels are big yes but easily understandable, the sequel is where it gets rough.

This reviewer doesn't realize either that limited saves in one way or another in platformers was a standard at the time, I mean it's the same in DKC, Rayman, Crash Bandicoot just to name the big ones.
I had hopes that this youtuber would be good, but only the "historical" part (which he seems to have gotten from other sources rather than his own research) is interesting, after that it's your typical modern point of view clueless of the context these games were made in.

That part about complaining about the game's difficulty is also looking at it from a modern point of view. Reviews at the time noted the difficulty but also saw it as a good thing; and if you look at the old usenet posts from later on in this video it's the exact same thing from players. And again the difficulty is about normal for successful platformers of the time.

Yet they paint it in the video as a negative and as something exceptional and try to find excuses for it, when Warhol is asked he basically answers it was due to Sega's testers and implies they didn't know what they were doing when we know from other sources this was the testers entire job. Why? Because the question and answers were leading from this modern point of view of "hard=bad" and "limited continues=bad design".

My point is this guy starts his video by correcting historically inaccurate misinformation but then doesn't have the hindsight for understanding the context of the gameplay in his review, despite he himself giving some of that context later on in the video.

I wouldn't be making these two posts if other people ITT didn't claim he was "one of the good youtubers", I mean yeah he's thorough and less revenue chasing clickbaity than some but he's still a youtuber.
